I need expert opinion to know how many catalytic converters are installed to exhaust system of Toyota Vitz 2009 1.3 2sz fe ? If there was any version of vitz to have more than one CAT?

There used to be a lev model with 2 cats, the secondary cat wasnt monitored though.

Bank means bank of cylinders

E.g. in a v6 engine you have 2 banks of 3 cylinders

In your case you only have one bank which is called bank1

Thanks brother.. I am sharing image of Toyota Yaris 2010 1.3 2sz fe complete exhaust system, I highlighted two parts of it with orange colour , first one is catalytic converter and what is this second ? Which resembles in shape with CAT ?

It's also a cat converter have you swapped your 1 kr with 2 sz if yes then no need to add 2 ND cat in the system if the primary cat is already installed

Thanks brother .. what is best method to clean CAT , I already have this washed with water and detergent which was not effective. Used protec Oxicat additives with better results . What's your take on this ? Some mechanics on YouTube suggest lacquer thinner adding into fuel tank and many are against it and prefer to soak CAT in lacquer thinner solution?

Once the cat is poisoned and damaged, there is only a slight chance of revival,

E.g. if the engine was burning oil and you put cheap api-sg 20w50 oil, or the engine was driven with severe level misfire or a bad working maf sensor, it will destroy the cat converter beyond revival.

Toyota installs the best cat converter in the world, and their ecu monitor it 90% efficiency, under normal run circumstances they will run forever, but if poisoned and killed to make them below 90% efficient, the ecu will never clear the p0420 code.

If it is a JDM then fuel type mismatch also causes the Cat Cons to fail.

Thanks brother.. should I remove second catalytic converter installed to exhaust system of vitz 2008 ? I guess dual CATs are leaving car response sluggish?

Cat converters dont cause sluggish performance unless they are blocked,

You assume that these brand new cars were sluggish?

No not at all .. my point was as vitz 2nd generation 1.3 support or function well with one CAT so might be second CAT of my car causing performance issues , that my hunch . As said by Raja Atta vitz second generation 1.3 exhaust was equipped with one CAT also dual one as well depending upon model and markets . MK2 variant exhausts mostly dual .

Before installing this exhaust my car used to reach 175 km ,now it barely reach 160 !
