Need info about mangla dam & mangla fort

Assalam-o-alaikum

Me & my colleagues have planned a day trip to Rohtas fort & mangla (from lahore) ... We will be visiting rohtas first (know little bit about rohtas) and then to mangla dam ... now here are my questions ..

1 - Which areas of dam we can visit without any special permission ? like Mangla fort .. Wapda Rest House etc ?

2 - Any good options for lunch there ? i have heard KFC is there in mangla cantt (out of the way ?) ... I have heard about "Mian Jee ki daal" near Lalamusa ... we might have brunch there if we are out of options ...

3 - What we must see ?

4 - How much time we need to make it to Ramkot ? just want to know if there is possible too.. say we reach mangla at 2pm ... can we still make it to ramkot and return till sunset ?

Not sure but I think you need permission to visit fort. @asifcae will guide better.
If you want to have lunch at KFC Mangla then its possible. Its on the road that connects GT Road to Mangla Dam. Not out of the way. Mian ji ki daal is ok too but u will only be able to eat it while returning to Lahore or it will be out of way.
There is a dedicated place called Mangla Boating Club. Its a must see, they offer so many water games. Here are some pics from my last year visit.

Sure it will help us ... and about mian jee hotel (if we do brunch) ... we would be traveling via GT road ... so it will be in our way to rohtas fort...

KFC would be good for lunch...

visit MP check post when going towards mangla via DINA ask them for fort visit permission agara zarrorat ho gi tou bata dayn gai. it is a news for me k rohtas fort k leyay permission chhayeah aysa kab sai shro hoya ??

We are not talking about permission for rohtas fort ... we are talking about a fort on mangla dam may be known as mangla fort (not Ramkot Fort)... don't get confused

Another option is to skip brunch and only eat the best fruit chat which is also available on main GT Road, Jhelum and then have proper lunch from Mangla KFC. Can't forget its taste.

Another option is to try the best sajji in Jhelum but its inside the city on railway road. However, it might not be available before lunch time:

Tulip looks good ... we have about 1200-1300 per head food (initial plan was mian gee ki daal brunch & shahbaz tikka in dinner & some kinoos ) .. so i think is mien ho jaiy ga .. as we will be coming from lahore in morning .. so we will be at jehlum river 11-11:30 am .. and we will be going rohtas first ... every one wants to have lunch at around 2 pm ... and that time we would be probably going from rohtas to mangla via dina ... so for tulip we would have to come back to jehlum river .. which no one would agree ...

BTW fruit chat looks great .. its location on GT road ?

So on the google map .. there is one hotel usmania and one in mangla cantt .. Lajpal restaurant & marriage hall .. next to KFC .. any info or review ? any good option on mangla view resort ? near boating club .. i hope there must be something there

As soon as the Jhelum bypass finish, continue to look on your left and you will hit the fruit chat stalls within a couple of kilometers. There are 5-6 shops in line so it will be easy to spot. If you will be using navigation then here are the possible co-ordinates of fruit chat stalls ( 32.963145,73.697812 ). Btw, just a suggestion that u should try fruit chat in first time, because return ke waqt himmat nahi ho gi aur spot karna bhee mushkil hoga

Frankly speaking I have been to Mangla dam twice but never ate anything from there. Once we had lunch from Tulip before going to Mangla and second time we carried our own food. But one thing I can tell you that there was nothing reasonable to eat was available near boating club.

yea i have not found anything yet on mangla ... some good restaurant ..
anyways KFC is the last option .. there quality has dropped alot in recent years ..

Bro Mahwish hotel per kar lain lunch.. you'll only have to come back 7 km from Dina Bypass (jahan se Mangla Dam ka road start hota hai) towards Jhelum city.. Total 14 km extra par jaye ga sirf.. But rest assured khana bohat acha hai udhar ka..

You can try having lunch at Subways also, just get the Sub of the day, 250-/
