Need opinions for buying a used hybrid

I have been planning to buy a JDM hybrid (prius 2012-14 or Aqua 16/17 model, not import but the manufacture year), I have never owned any hybrid before and therefore I want to know what should I look for when buying a used hybrid?

I have no idea about batteries and their health, the car mileage that I should be targeting or anything, want opinions on what to look out for and how to judge if the batteries are in good enough condition

Too old of a model to get anything good , you'll get problems down the road, we have no concept of hybrid service in Pakistan so the 17 model aqua is already 7 years old now , other cars will be even more.
ONLY go for a hybrid car if you can afford it brand new or a fresh import with verifiable auction sheet , if not its gonna be a headache once battery issues start popping up

Many threads on here asking the same question. Do some research to gain knowledge.

If you want to buy one, keep aside a budget for battery and abs replacement, among other maintenance.

My uncle bought a 2008 Prius 5 years ago. Needed a battery pack after a year, then engine started consuming huge amounts of oil, suspension started giving out, the abs failed and just recently he had to have 5 different consoles replaced before getting a good used one.

Now, he is saving up for a total engine replacement the huge amounts of oil consumption is getting worse and it knocks under load as well.

This was a 'company maintained' vehicle before he bought it.

The komnee maintained lies are peddled as if “komnee” are saints.. lol

The fleet mgr of the same komnees send cars to same cheapo shops and ask for kickback, results are worse than miserly person who never maintains it.

Buy only if you got spare money to waste.

Such “hybrids” will cost you way more than a normal non hybrid vehicle, both in terms of fixing all its maintenance issues like replacing the hybrid battery, ABS unit. Plus the initial purchase price.

Keep in mind minimum 5 lakh budget for fixing its existing issues but even then battery will have trouble as we don’t have local authorized dealers providing this service.

Buying anything older than a ~4 years old imported hybrid is a NO GO.

You won’t save anything in fuel average. Will end up spending a lot more on maintenance, purchase price.

Only do it if you’re adventurous and already know quite a lot about cars + hybrid tech.
