Need suggestion: Car to buy in 8-10 lac budget in 2022? Alto 2012, swift 2010?

I've been saving for a while to get a car (have a junk 2k3 cultus vlx) that ill be replacing. I'm a complete layman at buying cars and would want your advise in what to buy since the prices out there seem to be crazy. I wouldnt want to buy a car that keeps me at the mechanic every week so I'm setting <90k km on mileage here. Ive been browsing on classified websites and pakwheels and alto 2012 seems to be the only candidate/with-in range.
I can either get that or get an alto VXL by giving 8lac as 50 % payment and pay the rest in 2 years installment(its costing me an additional 3 lac because of installments and im unsure if thats going to be worth it).
I can stretch my budget to 10 something but would like to stick close to 8. Other candidates that I see are swift 2010 dlx 1.3 that i can find in 10-12lac range but since ill really have to stretch my budget here im not sure if its going to be worth it.
Alto does seem to be light on the pocket but it really feels like nothing more than a can of tin with not even having a power steering. Iam really lost here. Suggestions?

Bro go for alto vxl on bank lease. Doesnt matter if u r paying 3 lac more to bank as after 3 years alto vxl price might increase 3 lac more which will balance it in ur case. Brand new car, no mechanic work, after 2 to 3 years u will have an asset of more than 1.7 million approx if u sell it. Make calculations about down payment as per ur convenience but buy new alto vxl on bank lease. My sincere suggestion to u. People r paying 3 lac 70k on alto vxl as on money now.

I have considered it but then ive heard theres a wait of 4-6 months on Alto? Im not sure if i get it through my bank the wait will be the same. But that much wait sounds much of a deal breaker

Yes thats 1 issue. Find that bank which gives the shortest delivery time. Also check for corporate deals. I know Honda is giving corporate sector on priority basis. Find any bank who can give early delivery and also check with suzuki abt priority delivery for company option. Also check HBL they always make some arrangements with early deliveries.
I would still consider a brand new car option even with some late delivery as it will double ur asset and mental satisfaction.

you already have the best car in 1000 cc category, i.e. Cultus and that too VXL (power steering and windows version). There's no point in going from Cultus to Alto old generation, that'd be a downgrade if anything at all..

your best bet is to buy the EFI version of Cultus in 8 lac budget, it has better power, fuel economy and A/C performance than the carburetor one.

any 1300 cc in the range of 8- 10 lacs will be a headache and a terminally ill patient that you will have to revitalize again from your pocket : (

I would still recommend new zero meter alto vxl if ur drive is within city. Alto is the cheapest car in all at the moment. Getting 2022 from 2003 will be a huge achievement. My colleague sell his honda city car after every 3 years and buy brand new same car same shape same features agian just to keep brand new car at all times. Once u will buy a brand new car then u will understand what i mean. No matter alto vxl. Just keep in mind alto is the cheapest at the moment and its price will further go up to 2 million in coming years. Better buy now. If u afford it as u said u can on lease. No need to buy old. Choice is urs. Its ur money.

Trust me the cultus I have is in such a bad condition it has been picked up by cops twice as a "mashkook gaari"..sighs.. the bodys rotten and completely beyond salvage, the engine leaks oil and have some damage in it, AC, power steering etc is broken and would cost me atleast 3 lac in reconditioning and getting everything to be working and missing papers adding insult to the injury.. its really more trouble than worth to get it fixed..in fact, the only way i see im getting rid of that car is park it in some isolated corned one day and call 15 "Sir aek mashkook gaari khari hai utha lejayen" sobs

Also have a gentleman selling his city 2007, engine swapped to a 1.5 I think? Its an auto transmission (the changed engine number has been updated on cars papers). Hes asking for 1300k. Value for money? Its essentially a 15 years old car but overall way better than any Alto/swift that i was considering previously. Suggestion? I have friends telling me that this car can be very expensive to keep etc in terms of maintenance and would be a bad buying decision.

it the car and the changed engine is in good condition and the papers are legal and complete and updated.. City 2007 is a steal at this price : )

i think it is one of the cheapest sedans to maintain. some of it's parts are even cheaper than Swift even on Pakwheels store ...

if you get a good one in your hands , go for it !
