AA Everyone - I need expert's suggestion on land cruiser 2000-2002 vs Fortuner 2013, which one should i buy? My current budget is 40-45 lac max. Please help me find the right vehicle. Much thanks in advance

If you want reliability and a relatively newer car, get a Fortuner but if you require comfort, luxury, more features at the same price and more power, get a Land cruiser. Land cruiser being old will require a bit more maintenance but will provide value for money given a genuine car is available.

Thanks alot for the suggestion, i have few questions in mind, i heard old 2000-02 LC doesn't require that much maintenance, is this something which keep you worried about engine failure etc on long journeys? Fortuner 2013 is only option not higher models since they are above 5m, also what i don't like about fortuner is the lack of power. Also can you please suggest which models should i be looking in 2000-02, there are amazon then lexus v8, i have no idea which model is better.

Not exactly. These cars are the most reliable if maintained properly but here owners dont take care due to which those cars become money pits having alot of malfunctions and problems.
Land cruiser amazon was in UK and ireland only. Other varients including VX, VX limited and amazon had 1HD T or 1HD FTE 4200cc turbo diesel engine depending upon year model. I think they upgraded to 1HD FTE in 2000 or 2001. VX Limited 4.7 and Cygnus (double headlight) had 2UZ FE 4700cc V8 petrol engine which is a gas guzzler as expected.
Lexus LX470 was sold as LC cygnus in japan. Facelift of 100 series came in 2003 with new interior and tailights.

Another thing is that these land cruisers here have been meter reversed by dealers and brokers so finding a genuine mileage with some touch ups will be a difficult task which is why many people dont risk it and end up buying fortuner which is also a good vehicle but has some weaknesses.
