Need suggestions about Mitsubishi Pajero Mini!

Hi Guys,

I am planning to buy car in range of 5 lacks. I like Mitsubishi Pajero Mini. Kindly suggest me is it a good option or should i go for any other car. I don't have much idea about used vehicles so please share your valuable suggestions - Thanks

I need to know about its Market value, Resale value, Parts availability and cost, Performance etc.

hard to find a clean one
660cc(non turbo) version is underpowered
resale is low.
Fuel average is around 10/litre
Parts availability is a problem if you are not in Isb/Khi/Lhr
if you know nothing about cars and car maintenance then an old mini is a headace to maintain
It donot perform well on long routes (heat up issues arises)

However chepest 4WD available in imported vehicles (you'll find one between 4-6 lacks depending on model condition).

Go for one which have 1100cc engine (that of pajero jr).. or you may look for pajero junior as well.

i am a owner of a pajero mini myself, its a fun little car and has no issues if maintained properly on oem spec, however all of the cars on the market require a lot of work though car turns out great if you are willing to put effort, this is not a car you can buy and just drive and value it in monetary sense, though its so much more safer and fun to drive then alto mehran cultus etc etc

i would not think so, mine gets 11-12km/l without ac and 9km/l with AC, you have to remember its a proper 4x4 with low range gearboxes and all and aerodynamic capabilities of a brick and mine has wide 205 tyres, i also had 2003 tedious kid previously and that did 16km/l in city guaranteed, if they are properly maintained and no cog installed then they do great otherwise its pretty miserable

I own old shape Mini non turbo 660 manual tranny (Petrol only), and and if it is mainained then no issue of heatups and high fuel consumption. It is giving 13~14 km in a litre in local drive and it is a daily runner in my village. Slightly underpowered if AC is ON. But runs fine with four passengers and NO power loss is felt. The engine is slightly weak and consumes some oil but never felt heatup issue in summers. Parts availibility is an issue in villages and small cities but each part is available in major cities. So, the point is that it is the best mini SUV in 4~5 lac range. Suspension wise far better than potohar etc.
Previously I had Junior 1100CC manual. It had much power compared to mini 660 CC, but the price of a good Junior varies from 6~8 lac. And it is hard to find due to less in number. So, if u want to enjoy power with economy then Junior is the best option but u have to pay more cost while buying.
And one final word... keep mini away from CNG, u will be much happy.

Yes it also depends on mantainance, these cars are very cool but require proper maintainence. Turbo is known to give bad mileage and add auto and u will be crying.
These cars are not good for newbie's but if u know how to maintain cars and love jeep's then this is a good choice

Where as Terios Kid was a different story
all models had a 4 speed A/T and the 2wd NA version was quite economical the best of all you could swap in an EJ-VE or K3-VE if you want more power and both are bolt on swaps
Terios Kid parts are easily available and arent that expensive and it still has somewhat better resale then Pajero Mini
we bought one in 2008 and still have it till today

My Uncle had a 1998 redg 2008 Pajero mini and believe me it was a gem, car was clocked at 103km and it still looked and smelled like it came from the factory . I was in love with that car and had tried my level best to grab it but it gave a miserable mileage, that was the reason that it was parked in the garage because she drank fuel like hell. I tried to buy it from him but was stopped because of its fuel consumption .

Yes and a chrome grill it was named as pajero skipper. I'll try to find its pics in my laptop

Check radiator fan, if its clutch fan, then make sure its not loosened up. Try spinning it with hand when engine is off, if it takes 2 or 3 turns with single push, its clutch is worn out. Replace it. Change radiator, recently I started having heating issue, and radiator change fixed it. You can see photos and details in my thread.
