Need Tips to Buy Daihatsu Charmant 1984

Aoa. I need a dedicated advice from Senior Pakwheelers regarding Daihatsu Charmant 1984. I want to buy the one from a resident here in Islamabad. The car is 1984 model with Automatic Transmission and Stock Engine i.e. Toyota 4A or 4K. The car is well maintained by the owner. AC is in working condition. According to the owner, its parts are exact copy of Toyota Corolla Model 1984, so they are easily available from local market.
Kindly let me know if I should buy it and what should be the price?

Charmant is not exact copy of 84 corolla (e80) its twin sister of 80-82 corolla (e70) but you can have hard time finding body panel as non corolla spare fit on it

Btw spare being available and spare of running model is different you may find them but 4th and 5th copies at insane prices as oem dont exist any more

Can you share the Trans/Axle code punched over silver ID plate in engine bay, it is automatic and one of its kind. I see no harm if you can make a reasonable deal with seller.

you may need to change transmission fluid upon deal

Mehcanically it is 100% interchangable with KE 70 ( 1980-1982 ) Corolla.

Price is too high, however the car seems to be complete and in good nick. this is a one of a kind as we havent seen an automatic version uptill yet. Seems like it is converted , does its speed o meter have automatic gear signs?

As capsat says, the mechanical will not be a problem, but cosmetics parts exterior & interior will give u a lot of trouble.

it is suggested to go for 1982 corolla which u can get easily within ur budget id u really want to invest in old cars.

this auto-variant never had cluster display for shifter position. , it was the other one with GL badge brown screens, rear defogger, brown interior, automatic mirrors, auto lock & auto windows. like 1985 Galant GLS, very few of such Charmant were there

I will say go for it....if you have some extra budget for the maintenance...in case some issue arise after purchasing it....

Is it a good idea to change TRANSMISSION fluid as I found on internet that it causes slipping??? What do you say as I am so confused ?

which car you are referring to ?

for vehicle before 1990 the transmission fluid change was recommended after 40,000 kms,.
later the transmission fluid change is recommended at 75000+ kms

JDM scrap junk landing in PK with tampered Odometers immediate change of fluids is recommended

Corolla Altis 2005 PKDM with 101000 KM on ODO when I purchased last year now it 106000 on ODO and no record when it last changed and may be meter is tempered but I checked health of fluid it was like light brown

sure it is time to change the transmission fluid, check the tran axle code over vehicle ID plate use google to know what fluid type it will take.
