Dozens of newly built guest houses along the road at Keran.

Poushmal is one of the many guest houses here. 2.5k pernight, Its owner (or co-owner) was an educated and sincere young local man with an engineering degree. The care taker was also very accomodating person. Their food was especially good. We stayed here for one night, had dinner and breakfast here.

The problem with unplanned expansion of tourism, Garbage dumps every where, with only rain and river to take care of it. River banks and roads have become smelly in every town.

From road to Neelum village.

Neelum is at height and a couple of kilometers from Keran. A metaled road takes you there. It has also

overgrown with guest houses and rest houses and perhaps inhabits more tourists than locals in the season. If

the problem of waste disposal and cleanliness is solved in an environmental friendly manner, it can be a perfect

hill station to spend few days in a very peaceful atmosphere.

Our legs and lungs were not yet adapted to this up-hill task, so we stopped at this Neelum Village view lodges.

Owner was a very hospitable and friendly man. He greeted us in his lawn, immediately prepared tea for us. We

chatted with him and enjoyed beautifully presented tea. When after an hour we decided to leave and tried to

pay him for the tea, he refused insisting that we are his guests.
