New Car Additions and Maintenance Tips, City 2017

Hello all,

I am pretty uneducated when it comes to cars but I am finally purchasing my first car, 1.3 Honda City Pt. I would like to educate myself about all the things I should buy in the beginning, be it a necessity or a luxury. What maintenance issues do I need to look for? Which markets are good to buy things for cars? Which things to buy from the dealership?

I would really appreciate any and all feedback in this regard.

If I were in your place, I would have gone for a Navigation Headunit (After Market), a reverse camera, a front camera, decent sound system with amplifier, sub and components if you are an audiophile, otherwise stock system is alright. In addition to that fog lights are a good addition. Decent aftermarket poshish can also give a addition to car’s interior.
PS: City’s drive is pretty stiff. Hence going for Yokohama Advan DB tyres would shift your ride to a bit softiness.

Please note that warranty would be void on most of the aftermarket electrical modifications that I mentioned above. If you are from Lahore, the markets like Montogomery Road and Peco Road Link road markets are good.
Dealerships mostly charge atleast thrice the original cost of the product but warranty remains intact. You can get fog lamps and Navigation Headunit alongwith reverse camera from your dealership. Seat poshish can also be done from dealership but I prefer aftermarket.

I was in the same dilemma for quite sometime in recent past. And if you go through this link, that will help you I guess. I would strongly discourage getting fog lamps from the dealer. When I happened to use those fog lamps in dense fog, they proved to be pretty useless.

For maintenance, you must keep an eye on your odometer. First service is to be done on 1000 kms from dealership. After that, regular oil changes at 5000 km intervals each starting from the first 5000kms. Your Honda City car warranty and service booklet will have all this information. Refer to that for exact intervals and maintenance schedules.

Get fog lights from dealership as it won't void the warranty. Plus navigation with back camera. Change tyres to 185/65/15. It will improve the ride quality, road grip and noise..!

Change the tyres... Throw out those eurostars...they are garbage...that is the only thing you need to do...
