Here is what OUR Pakistan Corolla lacks (keep in mind the rest of the world provides the features listed below at the same price these mongrels charge.

I or any of my family and friends will NEVER buy a Corolla without an immobilizer - the way these cars get stolen - an Immobilizer should have been a must. I will spend a bit extra to buy a Civic. Shame on Toyota Indus!!!! Wake up guys!

I've observed the honourable participants of this thread talking about whether the new Corolla will sell well or not. I think it will sell like hot cakes, no matter what! Not because the locally manufactured Corolla is a quality car but because we the end users don't have many choices. Currently there are only the following models selling very well; Suzuki Mehran, Toyota Corolla XLi and GLi. Only these models are very popular. In the 1.3 litre market, Toyota holds a mind-boggling 70% of the market. This is mainly because of our government's auto policy. We don't have any choice but to go to the local car manufacturers to buy cars and get a substandard-cumm-overpriced product.

The current government has added insult to injury by increasing custom duty and taxes on imported cars in the 2014-2015 budget which has further strengthened the dishonest hold of the local auto manufacturers on the domestic car market and therefore has circumvented us even to think about importing any quality car from anywhere.

I checked the website of Toyota South Africa, they provide 1.3dual vvti version BUT with six speed manual tranny. I am wondering whether 1.3 vvti can give good result with 4 speed auto? doesn't the car engine drag extra RPM every time going uphill. does it gives a good economy? the knowledge shared by bro Rizwan confused me a lot.

Everything depends on the prices
Altis Grande not having the features we were expecting , wait and see the price tag , if priced reasonably n below vti oriel prosmatec fully loaded leather and navigation package then it will be a good option between vti prosmatec and vti oriel prosmatec
Keep in mind civic lacks much desired paddle shifters and in rolla we will also get rear reclining seat with good enough leg room and most probably better performance and comfortable ride on bad roads as compared to civic
These points will go in favor of altis
Coming to xli Gli
Again it depends
If they are giving the new shape and complete new change in just 1 lac to 150 plus then I don't think it's a bad deal

Yes immobilizer is a much needed thing
But still most of the corollas are snatched on gun point
My uncles brandnew Gli got stolen few days back on gun point outside a restaurant on a really busy road
They opened up the dash and few consoles for deactivating the tracker installed in front of so many ppl on main road
He bought the car on 31st last month enjoyed his new ride for only 12 days and on 12th this month it got stolen

Well, Toyota introduces 5-6 variants in the same shape that is very insane. They must launch new shape for Altis.

city is smaller in size and weighs much less than corolla so 1.3 is ok in case of city, still manual city is preferred as auto is underpowered and sluggish....

Altis Manual 1.8 = 12.6 km/l
Altis 1.6 Auto = 12.6 km/l

Altis 1.8 Auto Acceleration 0-100 = 11.2 sec

my prosmatec civic gives 15 km/L on motorway with AC....

Thanks a lot for sharing the invaluable information. If Indus Motor Company introduces an automatic transmission in its XLi and GLi then there will be a serious problem pulling the full sedan body for a 1.3 litre engine because there are torque losses in all automatic transmissions. In a CVT transmission the torque loss is relatively less as compared to a conventional automatic transmission with planetary gears. In a CVT transmission a hydraulic clutch replaces a torque converter which reduces the power loss but it can't match the power efficiency of a manual clutch in a manual transmission. This is the main reason why we always install a bigger engine in automatics regardless whether we are going for a CVT or a conventional automatic transmission although the former (CVT) offers better efficiency when it comes to transmitting torque from the flywheel to the wheels.

Personally I like the conventional automatic transmission as it gives us the 'shift-shock' when changing gears which feels more masculine. A CVT feels feminine, my apology to female members of the forum, I'm just trying to clarify my point. Conventional automatic transmission feels more muscular and powerful. A CVT offers better fuel economy but doesn't give the pleasurable 'shift-shock' experienced when driving a conventional automatic. I'd rather go for a manual than drive a CVT.

I was wondering, if 1.8 with paddle shifters takes 11.2 secs, then 1.3 auto would take atleast 16 secs
