I do agree that the soul of a car depends on its engine, handling and all performance figures but without the external beauty, it wont attract a huge no of customers except for some old guys who like 90s shapes ...
SUPER CAR is car which is insane in both looks n power. Honda NSX is also a super car and its a legend because of its handling and ride quality. It was a car that contributed most to the development of even greater legend the Mclaren F1. It was developed in co operation with japanesse F1 drivers. It was a super car which matched the soul of Porsches, Lamborghinis and Ferraris.
You can not judge the future of this car or to be more precise, legend even before its birth. People at Honda also know that they created a legend before and they are not so stupid that they will revive the name again which something which is not better then before.
As for front engined rear wheel drive layout, I will say that if the previous car was mid engined RWD then its not obligatory on engineers that they should develop on the same design. Let them design a car which they think can be a legend in future. Many modern cars do feature the Front engine RWD layout ... examples are: Ferrari 599, Corvette ZO6, Viper, etc.
On the whole, I think that you want the same 90s shape to be revived but thats not the case with Honda engineers. They want to revive the PERFORMANCE BENCHMARK and BEST HANDLING super car for which they can adopt anything THEY feel is suitable or which can help in achieving their aim easily.
