Yes bro, I called excise department on there number provided on website and the dude told me plates applied for till 20-1-25 are available and plates applied for after that would be available at least after 1 or 1.5 months. I applied on 29th of Jan so already 3 months gone .

What to do if a single number plate is stolen? My one number plate was stolen or perhaps it slipped off while driving in heavy rain; I paid the challan on February 2nd; what happens if they discover one original number plate is missing? Will they give both original plates or will they charge money for a new number plate?

any idea about changing the old book to smart card? whats the requirement

When I bought my car 4 years back and went to civic center for transfer they just asked for cnic copy of previous owner (should be valid) transfer letter and original car documents and old book also there was one more thing that they send me downstairs for stamp papers but I'm not sure what was the reason for that. Also if your car is on your name then you only need your own valid cnic and few copies of it as well . But plz do keep in mind that this was 4 years back so I might be forgetting something and requirements must have changed over time . Nonetheless I think process would be pretty straightforward and if you just keep the things that I mentioned you should be good to .

I think if you have official duplicate number plate then it shouldn't be an issue . Also make sure you took proper measures for lost or stolen numberplate as I've seen a few posts recently where some people that find these numberplates are misusing these plates in illegal practices .

Just sharing an update here. Plates for applications submitted by 29th Jan 25 are ready. Those who applied after that will get theirs in early July

nfsmostwanted I went to the Excise Civic Center on 3rd June. I had applied on February 3, and they told me the plates would arrive by the first week of July. So based on that, since you applied on the 22nd of feb, yours might come by the end of July. Anyway, whenever my number plates arrive, I’ll let you know the current status too.

As per this poster, my number plates should be available, which is not the case. Challan Paid on 26th January, still number plates not available, any help??

update on this.

went yesterday on 24th June 2025

as of now, challans submitted by 29th January 2025, number plates are available.

you go to second floor, room is first on the left, just as you enter.
on the right is commercial plates available for 15 Feb 2025.

at the entrance of the room, one line is on the right, submitting the paid challan. (keep paid challan + cnic copy + mobile number written on the challan in hand)

submit the challan and then join the line on the left side of room entrance. they will call out your name,
submit your file + old yellow plates and then wait again in the same line.

they will stamp the file, give new plates and again call out your name, recieve and go..

its hot and humid, but took me about 40 minutes in total.

agents outside will ask for Rs 2000 per plate in addition to your challan etc. no need to pay them.

if you go in your own car there are a few people roaming around will change your plates for you for Rs 250-350.

I visited the Excise Office again today, and the latest update is that plates are now being issued for those who applied by February 15.

Alhumdulillaah, got my original number plates after five months. Applied on 26th Jan 2025.

All the process was done via agent but he delivered the plates without asking for the original file to be stamped with "plates issued". Is it normal?

not normal. each page of file is stamped with

1. surrender of original plates

2. issue of new plates.
