Hi,
I would appreciate if you can give me five minutes of your time to explain the purpose of this writing. My name is Zuhair Abbas and I am doing my Masters in Product Design from University of Salford, Greater Manchester. As part of our curriculum we take up real world scenarios and develop products that would help alleviate problem and issues faced by people.
Being a Pakistani I feel that it’s my moral duty to align my projects with issues that my fellow Pakistanis face on a daily basis, the issue that I want to address is the current transportation woes that common people of Pakistan face, specifically the low/middle income group who are currently using motorcycles or depending on public transport as their primary transportation.
The rationale for the idea is that there is a very big monetary as well as functional gap between the two wheeled motorcycle (typical price PKR 42,000) and a four wheeled car, which at its cheapest is about PKR 465,000. Considering the fact that Pakistan has a fertility rate of 4.7, translating to an average family of 6 persons, combined with the fact that average income is hovering at around PKR 16,000 per month and all of a sudden the concept of affording a brand new traditional car seems almost laughable. Second hand car market helps in this regard but for the uninitiated it’s seems as a high-risk situation given the lack of vehicle history profiling and dodgy repairs by local mechanics.
My plan is to come up with an innovative vehicle that will not only attempt to address these shortfalls but also introduce a new concept of vehicle that is tailored to the needs and means of the people of Pakistan.
The project requires us to create an Innovation Cell, by establishing contacts with company(s) and/or businesses and form a sustained collaboration. The aim of this collaboration is that it will facilitate and evaluate my ‘critical design visions’ and ‘enterprise modelling’ of my design.
Because PAKWHEELS is one and only auto-related Pakistani forum with very well informed and aware individuals as its moderators and members, I would like to take you up as a partner who will help me in the development of my ‘critical design visions’ . I am assured that I will get very relevant and insightful feedbacks from you guys and I know this for a fact that there are certain individuals among your rank who belong to the relevant fields of industry, so please come forward and help.
Hoping to hear a positive response from you.
Regards,
Syed Zuhair Abbas
