Nissan March - Radiator problem

Hi guys.. need your help.

I am a very happy owner of a nissan march so when my cousin was looking for a car i advised him to go for Nissan March they we found a nice 2002 March for him.

After buying car few days later he found that water is getting lower in radiator and he have to fill it up daily.

Then when i check i found oil in water and also bubbles we coming which means problem was with GASHEAD KIT.

So we took it to Nissan (Sawan Camp, Rawalpindi) and the mechanic said that GASHEAD kit needs to be replaced BUT he said go for a new engine rather then changing the GASHEAD.... he advised not open engine as it might also damage valves and stuff... but i found this weired as changing gashead should not be a problem...

what you guys think? mechanic was right??

I need you urgent help as i am feeling very embarrassing as it was my idea for buying March.

I think, u just need to replace gasket and nothing else. Also do facing of head before fitting it back.

for changing head gaskit,u only need to open up the head and change the gaskit and facethe head..tht about it...mechanic was hi probably on horse tranquilizer so he suggested to change engine instead of changing head gaskit

find a good workshop and have them open up the engine, The problem you may face is that the head maybe cracked from overheating (common problem in Nissan DOHC heads if cooled with rusty tap water). If thats the case and everything is still in good shape, get a new head from the junkyard and refurbish it.

Facing the exact same issue and the mechanic suggests the same to me too.
What was the resolution.
Did u find a good mechanic who worked on the head gas kit issue only?
