Nissan Moco - Maintanence Advice

AoA Pakwheelers,

I drive a Nissan Moco, bought it when it had 16500 Kms on the meter, now it has approximately 24500.

I need advice on the following things:
1- Oil Changes(When to change and which to use)
2- Coolant (Which one to use)
3- Knocking Sound ( Reason and solution)
4- Breaks squeaking (Why and what to do?)
5- General Tuning Advice

1 - Oil:
I have changed its oil and oil filter twice, first one was from Guard Oil ( Don't know the specifications of the oil ) and the second at 5000 km's was from Hascol. Is the mileage between oil changes OK? 5000 KM?
I have also changed the air filter of the car when i was changing the oil the 2nd time. Do I have to change anything else too?
I also want to know which is the best oil for Nissan Moco in Karachi, budget is not a problem.

2 - Coolant:
The best coolant for 660cc cars for the weather in Karachi? Budget also not a problem here.

3 - Knocking:
When I first got my car, I used to drive it on Hascol's 97 RON petrol every time. But after petrol got expensive and 97 RON reaching a price of 104 Rs. It really is a little bit expensive for me. So I've started driving on normal petrol but the car always makes a knocking sound near the speed of 40 - 50 km/H, I guess it is because of the petrol but why does a 660cc car need 97 to work properly. 92 should not produce a knocking sound, or is it something else and not the petrol quality. How can I stop it, please help.

4 - Breaks Squeaking:

Breaks create a squeak when I apply them, is it because the break pads are old and need to be replaced? If yes, then please tell a good place in Karachi to get new break pads or get the break pads checked and which break pads to buy (If the need exists) and if it is not because of the break pads, then what can be the issue and how do I remove it.

5 - Tuning Advice:
I used to ride a CG-125 before I bought my first car, I had it tuned up with every oil change, but I haven't had my car tuned since I have bought it.

The things I need to know are these:

Is tuning necessary? If yes, after how much km's should I get my car tuned.
Which showroom/mechanic should i take my car to? Because my car is nissan, if it was a mira, i would've taken it to toyota showroom.

What things to I need to change with Oil? Air Filter, Oil Filter, and?

When should I change my gear Oil?

I am really sorry for these type of questions and I know i could've googled them, but I need someone with experience of both Japanese Cars and the mechanics and vendors of Karachi to provide me with suggestions through which I can have a great experience with my car without much problems.

I would be very grateful to an answer to any of the above mentioned queries.

1- you should use what manual suggests, for move/mira its 0w20 or 5w30, interval is 5k, make sure to buy from a reliable source so you dont get 2 number oils, also use good quality oil and air filter, the also play important roles
2- toyota tin one should be fine
3- never faced knocking on either mira or move with normal petrol, maybe try a different pump?
4- it could be be that brake pads are ending or rotors needs the surface cleaning, any mechanic should be able to tell
5- these machines dont need tuning, just throttle, plugs and catalytic cleaning when required(for me i folllow once an year).

i own a move 2013 model ... when i bought it .. it was 96k driven and now its 120k .. i only changed oil and air filter since i bought last year in jan 2017 .. i m in lahore .. i never ever faced issued in my car .. is there any reliable mechanic in lahore for tuning ( plugs, catalytic cleaning etc ) .. i dont no if u live in lahore ..

I have the same model Nissan Moco.
For the Oil mr farid is right. Use 5w20 or 5w30 but fully synthetic. Just make sure it is orignal.
These cars don't need tuning until the check engine light comes on. Mine came on around 29000 km which is very early so I took it to a mechanic and he opened up the engine and we found that the spark plugs needed replacement asap. He also cleaned two critical sensors, Petrol distribution system and another was Intake sensor I believe. Now the car gives even better mileage than before.

If the car is Knocking then take it to a good mechanic, keep in mind normal car mechanics cannot open these engines so beware.

I just had the oil changed of my moco, used 5w30 Liqui Moly and also added ceratec with it. Really did feel a change in the drive because the last oil I used was 20w50. (It was because of my mistake of listening to an unexperienced oil changer).

Did not change the gear oil as the previous one was ok.

Knocking has been finished, knocking happened due to maybe the thick oil and using the normal petrol of PSO pump near malir cantt Karachi, (the petrol quality is really worse there)

The Nissan Moco is a rebadged Suzuki MR-Wagon that came with a Suzuki K6A engine. You can get hold of any of Suzuki's newer 660cc car's owner's manual and check the requirements for engine oil and other stuff for it.

If you are interested in learning how to maintain it yourself, below is a workshop manual for the engine. Please note that the workshop manual is basically a manual for repair work and contains little information regarding general maintenance, and it might be too technical for people just starting out on learning to maintain their cars. Anyhow, it is always good to have one handy.

Thanks for the manual, will surely consult it for maintenance, the newer model of Nissan Moco or Suzuki MR Wagon had an R06A engine instead of the K6A engine, will this manual also be handy for the R06A engine?

Ok, I stand corrected. I didnt know about the Moco with the newer engine. In that case, this manual will not beuch useful I guess. Anyhow, the Suzuki Alto eco comes with the same engine, R06A. You can use its recommended maintenance procedures for your Moco as well.

My moco is working perfectly Alhamdullilah till date and it has crossed the 40000 KM Mark,

But there is one thing which is bugging me, which is the ene charge belt noise, whenever I leave the accelerator or apply brakes, if the car is cold the belt starts making squeeking noise which is very loud.

If anyone knows a good mechanic near airport which can help me with this so can you please share his information.

Guys have you ever got your car battery changed in nissan moco (DBA-MG33S) I have it replaced it in mine but somehow it sounds insufficient ampere.

Please let me know how many amp battery is ideal for it. Also I got my ECO light disappeared from display. Why please respond

Assalam-o-Alaikum

My Nissan Moco is not starting. The meter shoes blinking light when the key is inserted and ignition is turned ON. The computer sign in yellow color is visible. Any guess? Or please share contact of some good Moco mechanics in Pindi/Islamabad. Thank you.
