Nissan sunny 1991

Hello there. I'm new here and I'm buying my first car. I decided on a Nissan Sunny 1991 with a 1300cc engine. The seller informed me that the car has a shorted token worth about 37,000/-and that the file is in the Excise office. I want to know if I pay the full token amount and will I receive my car file back?

Where (city/province) the car is registered ?

For Punjab/Sindh, generally there are 2 files of each vehicle. One file they give to owner (usually original one). And 2nd file they keep in their records (copies).

You can hire an agent and he can pull all details from excise records.

Because if the pending tokens are 37K, then it means it won’t have smart car and car still be running on passport book. It may have other complications too and can cost you more to transfer to your name now.

Don’t rush to buy such old vehicle unless you receive green signal from excise agent about its clean records and transfer fees/charges etc.

BTW, why 91 model Nissan? This is already out of market car.

Why not Corolla of early-mid 90s model with clean records, which are far more value-able and availability of parts are still available.

Since my budget is limited to 450k and the Corolla is a bit pricey, one of my friends who owns a Nissan Sunny 1991 is willing to sell it to me for 400k.

Well I guess if you will buy the 33 years old vehicle for 400K and want to use it as daily runner, then I guess you have to spend at-least 100-150K on its maintenance first. And availability of Nissan’s parts of that model is near to 1%.

Before buying, ask your friend to do the compression test. It will give very good idea about the health of the engine either its in good health or need rebuild. A reputed workshops doesn’t charge for doing the compression test.
