(NO) Discontinuation of corolla Gli 1.3 variants?

Kindly show me any proof or statement from any Toyota japan that they are discontinuing making 1.3 engines .yeh sirf aik excuse dealers ne ghara ha kyonkae they have sold most gli to these investors which in turn will be sold on premium or own . As they say “choose your poison”.

The 1.3 is not made for corolla, so it is still being made and will continue to do so. Indus just have to keep mating it to the body. Well if any gen change and corolla goes any bigger then definitely the engine is already pulling a lot of weight it will be a slug on the road with very bad economy. hence no point.

Sorry no proof yet. But heard from some sources and pakwheels also posted some articles about it. We were booking a gli facelift but didnt after this news. Even if it does happen, i think it will be great. 1.3 engine is too underpowered for that body.

They should have 1.5 and 1.8 versions for corolla only. 1.3 only benefit was lower tax bracket.

I don't want to start a topic discussed thousand times on pakwheels but under-powered is a relative term.
A person driving 1.8L Altis will feel less power in 1.3L for sure. But 1.3 Gli/Xli has better acceleration than most of the cars on the roads. The automatic cars like Vitz and those 660cc boxes are painfully slow in initial gears whereas with proper gear shifting 1.3L Corolla is quite fast and has a beautiful distinct engine roar.

Corolla can pull its weight i agree and acceleration is better than Mehran (the most sold car). But the point remains that if 1.3 Engine has poorer economy than 1.8 Engine the engine is overburdened, it pulls till 100 fine then on wards it starts roaring.
1.3 is overburdened and you really feel when you seat in 5 adults and turn on the AC. It does its work although but not very fun to drive.
Well in counter we do see 200cc CNG rickshaw pulling load of 10+ passengers.

So in other words a 1500 or 1600 cc engine like that of altis is better for such cars
