No Number Plates For 2011 Corolla Given By Ex-owner

AsalamuAlaikum. I bought a Islamabad registered RZ series 2011 Corolla. The ex-owner is said the car has original number plates but when I asked ETO they told me that it was not original but made in same format as original from local market. Now I have the car on my name and i have my new smart card too. I went to islamabad eto and asked for number plate and he said 2011 model hai iski number plate kahan hogi hmary pass. What should I do?

Just keep it running. Its not a big deal unless you are super-duper conscious about it.

Thousands of vehicles are there on road with duplicate number plates and they hardly came into notice unless they really look like fake.

Ask ex-owner if he has the original plates with him or those are lost or what happened with them?

In case if you are ever stopped by excise police and they tell you that your plates are not original, just tell them the same story that I bought the vehicle right in this condition and didn’t know they are duplicate.

As far as i know, the cost of applying new plates in Punjab or Sindh is nearly 100K. Thats why most of the people just keep the duplicate plates running or save the original plates within the vehicle.
