@Storm & Asad....... I suggested media blasting at the earlier stage to expose the rusted out parts. I have serious doubts about the ability of person in Pak doing this correctly.
Walnut and pecan powder could be used as well. I would also suggest "baking soda" as the medium especially for the paint prep stage becuase its not that abbrasive plus asad has already had the body stripped of paint. (I"m not sure how it'll react to the filler material already on the car). I think it would be good prep for the paint job and won't be that harmful and difficult to use.
@STORM ...... The idea of stealing the finished car didn't cross my mind. What was I thinking ....... stealing the parts ....... we'll steal the finished product and save ourselves tons of time and effort! I"m up for it. I'll can even drop you at ur home on my way back
I'm all for helping out in whatever manner I can. Sometimes I have the time and spend all day going through the VW threads here at Pakwheels and other forums (or looking at cars on the Samba) or just browsing through the local shops. Other days, I'm busy as anything and have no clue what I'm doing.
People generally are nut cases and when it comes to Beetles they have some crazy ideas. Everyone wants a great car but is not ready to spend money on one (or to maintain one if they have one in hands already). They'll take all the possible short cuts to use as little money as possible (and destroy the car in this process). Everyone looks down at VWs. Its a shame. I remember this one guy bugging me to sell my car to him because it was a perfect thing to make a convertible from .......
Anyways, I'm really enjoying this thread and the updates. Its great work indeed and can't wait to see the finished product.
