 Im impressed by your comments! I feel something like a celebrity, lol. It would be a pleasure to meet you as Im sure you do have a keen interest to see the project with your own eyes.


 I do have to update this thread with a ton of pics and text which Id hopefully do soon. The current workshop is at Moosa colony near Ziauddin hospital, I can give you the directions. I visit early in the mornings twice or thrice a week. Can match the day convenient for both, maybe around the weekend?

Back to posting pics.......Im still not done with the ones taken earlier.....dont want to skip to the current ones......

  Taking the rare four spoke steering off. Have this nifty 22mm socket and handle for the purpose. It never fails.....along with the cheater pipe you see here.....time for some muscles to be used overtime, the nut is tight!

This is what I was upto....took the four spoke off along with the indicator/wiper lever switches and the ignition switch. These items are damaged if the car is to remain out in the open with the denter.

A common two spoke deluxe wheel was then fit for purposes of steering while pushing/towing.

The last remaining fender being taken off. Thats "Teddy" the denters chota, a sweet kid who cooperates with all handy work on the bug.

This was Feb 2008 still.

I had something interesting up my sleeve! Got hold of a nice 1966 decklid and handed it over to Abdul Basit, Karachis famous top VW denter specialist.


Safeershah's 56 Oval was there 'in the werks'. Asked him to copy off the highly desirable W-decklid design off it!! VW fans did your heart skip a beat?????:)

The pictures show alot of rust on the car, it must be quite a challenge in getting new parts for those areas

The W decklid was safely stored at home as soon as I got it. It would come in handy after a long time down the line in the resto. I just love the W lid and would not mind having one wrong year part on the car, although I would keep it as an extra along with a correct for the year part.

The joker at the service station was amused at seeing the car being pushed in for a service.

He did a half baked job on it though it was a simple wash. Did not even scrub the car down with a brush properly as I requested him. Complained to the manger who was just as @$$holic and instaed of getting a good job done just gave me a discount of 20 rupees!!! :P

Jumping back to the W decklid......

Got it home and test fitted the number plate light housing. Turned out the fit was spot on but the lines needed a bit of denting to make a perfect match. Ill keep this in mind.......
