I guess he meant corrosion aka salt.
Even oem battery does that. I fitted daewoo mantainance free last time and that lasted 2 years easily. Now using fujika mf70 which got more amps and cca in it.

Your battery, terminals And hold bracket were all Pakistani made. And if in any case your battery holddown gets corroded, remove it, wire wheel it, primer it and paint it with generic enamel paint.

For terminal ends, just use some petroleum jelly with baking soda to keep corrosion neutralized.

to make battery last longest.

1 - prepare it with high quality electrolyte (lab grade sulphuric acid and distilled water only)
2 - insulate it from heat brunt (jacket, cover or insulation around battery)
3 - make sure the terminal clamps are good and there are no strains on the battery cables
4 - check electrolyte level and top up distilled water only.
5 - keep it free from vibration (make sure the battery holder is in place and tight)
6 - Make sure the alternator is good and electric system is properly wired up.

I would have gone and kicked that seller and drove my car straight into the battery brand owners offices. I have never had a battery die at 2 years unless it was a piece of trash with half capacity cells.

That's the max I could take out from mantainance free one. The lead acid one lasts 2.5 or 3 years max. That too of ags.

It has rusted to the point of no return. Some portion is erroded away

Yes, these are ok if you dont gorilla hulk them when tightening and also keep some protection on it too.

Very easy to find in plaza market. Buy the genuine toyota ones though, dont buy the chinese replica which are yellow cad plated, they are useless.

Cheapest source are the small tiny cabins/shops selling nuts/bolts and screws in plaza/magazine lane or the shops in center of plaza market selling electrical items.

They are sold at toyota showrooms too.

The reason people install cheap crap is because they see this terminal for Rs 200 and cheaper one for rs 50 but it requires hacking wires etc.

They will choose cheap and hack wires because it doesnt have any effect on “resale” unlike car paint which is supposed to be kept super genuine including bird poop dropped in factory parking lot.

Without fail, just after getting delivery form the showroom, I replace battery in the car with an MF battery. No leakages of acid and hence no ruined terminals or corroded body work. This is a lesson I learned 25 years ago. At that time only MF batteries were the imported ones. Now a lot of local options are also available. But again some of them have leakages along joints or terminals. Daewoo MF batteries are good.

By the way, people here are confused regarding MF batteries. They are in fact same wet acid filled batteries as the regular lead acid batteries with water fill caps. Only difference is that MF batteries are sealed and they have a slightly more quantity of electrolyte (acid+water) to compensate for any loss during the lifetime of the battery.

These batteries work best if your cars charging system is working normal. If it is overcharging, it will deplete the electrolyte quickly and you will have no way to refill the distilled water and the battery will fail prematurely. I have used these batteries even for more than four years. You just install them and then forget.

There are many other small things for which people don't bother here. Have you ever seen replacing washers when fluids are changed. Sometimes these small things cost a lot. Sometimes these small things cost a 'life'.

Many vehicle fires are caused by such small omissions. Batteries produce hydrogen when they are being charged. Hydrogen and any sparking contact is an explosive mixture. Once I was at a petrol station and there was a large bang with people running around. An 'expert' welder was welding on a truck near its batteries and one battery exploded. Then everybody was scrambling for water to wash that electrician.
