very informative thread .. btw guys please only choose these engine oil grades (api SJ , api SL , api SM and latest api SN) .. rest api SE , api SF , api SG , api SH are all obsolete grades ..

also I would like to ask a question that if 4 litre api SN (10w-40) engine oil is not available then is it good or harmful if one use 3 litre api SN grade (10w-40) instead and mix it with 1 litre api SJ grade (10w-40) to make it 4 litre oil and put it in car ?

My cars's oil was leaking so it reduced over 1.5 liters of ZIC A 10/30. So, to replenish, i poured in my home generator's oil 1.5 liter 20/50 viscosity of some unknown UAE brand . not a single issue as car has almost completed over 3k km by now with this unusual mix - same pick, same average, same performance, same half self start.

Castrol magnatec 10w-40 is locally packaged or imported? And where is this synthesized?
I buy castrol magnatec 5w-30 uae imported but the 10w-40 is not imported one. Any inputs?

I am also curious to know users feedback over Castrol Magnetec 5w30 ..... its price and country make, quality, its API grade ... change interval etc !
i had used Castrol Magnetec 10w40 in city idsi 2006 for like 50k km ..... with change interval of 4k ! and it offered very good economy and engine sound remained well .....

Well, it was my first oil change after the purchase of city 2006, idsi.
So far,castrol magnatec 5w30 has been good overall. I cant compare n evaluate the performance as my car need some tuning n maintenance things to be done. about the oil, its api SN, ILSAC gf5, semi synthetic n uae imported, while castrol magnatec 10w40 is SN/CF, semi synthetic, marketed in pak,( thats here its confusing: its probably synthesized in uk (in pds there is mention of uk), it might have been brought n packaged by BP company in uae, then its marketed here, I dnt knw by whom but shopkeeper say they get it from muller & phillip ).
So, u might have any information regarding this as u r using it for so long, if u like to share.
Therfore,I have doubts about its authenticity.
Acha, phir uper se daal me kaala ye tha kay the shopkeeper I bought from, asked me to return the empty can of 5w30 n get 100rs. back. Now this has further put me in doubt as what do they do with empty can ( refill it?!!!)

And about you new car, well I am not thr correct guy to give suggestions right now, coz I still know very lil about oils n have no much experience as well.
But what I would have done if had just bought new car, that I will use fully synthetic, 5w30 or 5w40 ( relying on owner manual ) n with latest api.
If ur car is not daily driver, then go for semi synthetic, the only reason would be price as its no need to pay few bucks extra when u r changing oil n filter regularly.

try it. i have not tried till now just heard about it. that suzuki oil is blended by total.

Hmm, 5w30 cost me 2400 rs. And 10w40 is costing 2250 rs.
I changed 5w30 twice at 3 months interval.
So how much does 10w40 cost you? N do u buy it from trusted dealer? What r ur views about 10w40? U still using it in city?

i was getting castrol magnetec 10w40 for 2500 rs in islamabad and that too in 2012 ! then sold that idsi city and not using it right now .... and have no idea about 5w30 price .... its availability is also very uncertain here in isb ..... i had good experience with 10w40 .... offering good engine sound and economy .... like i used to get 19-20 km/l from idsi on highways and 15km/l in local .... change interval was 4k with VIC filter at that time ..... but now thinking about 5w40 magnetec with OEM jap filter or VIC .... not sure yet !

Has anyone wondered we talk so much about oil but forget that with every oil change we give our cars a oil filter that is most probably fake or has the worst filtration quality ever. We are never worried about filters dukaan walay k paas jo hai woh laga lia. The only ones I have some faith in are the VIC filters and recently I just have a feeling they are fake too, because if replicas are already being manufactured here what's to say others aren't. I would not trust a single dealership either of selling genuine filters it's such a easily copied item that I doubt there's much to promote honesty in them by selling the original. And even if they are the filtration is a big doubt in my mind if they are produced by a local vendor for a company. After going through bob is the oil guy forums I have decided this time around I am going to import oil filters, they will cost me double what a VIC filter costs me but at least I will have peace of mind!

Do u have reduced the price of oils?
At jambo, 10w40 price is 2440 rs. But previously u quoted 2750 rs. Whats the actual price? n if jambo is doing, why aren't u doing free home delivery?
