Oil Consumption

Aoa all
I have a city model 2009 97Km driven. I had been using Liqui Moly 10w40 oil in my car and used to change it at approx 5k but i stopped using it after my car started consuming oil. After this replaced the oil and started using Honda 10w30 Oil which i now change at 3k but even now i encounter the same problem of lower oil level when i am close to 3k. I change oil filter and air filter at every oil change and another thing to mention is that i change oil between 1.5 - 2 month's time

brother let me tell you honda maintenance for your car (city 2009):-
1: you must use 5w30 oil. do not use any other oil. oil maintenance interval is 5000km or 6 months whichever comes first.
2: change ur air filtet after 10K or 1 year ,whichever comes first.changing air filter with oil change is not required.u r wasting ur money.
now to ur oil consumption question ! if your oil oil level does not fall below the "MIN" mark on dip stick ,then you do not need to worry. does your car exhaust has bluish white smoke? does your coolant has oil in it ? are there signs of oil leak?

i have never heard any complain against liqui moly, i think its german oil and comes with original packing.

No there is no leakage and no other signs are mentioned by you but what might be the cause of this?

It has nothing to do with the oil as there has been reduction of oil in both cases

if no such signs exist, then may be u are not reading the dipstick properly. do u measure level when engine is fully cold ? do u measure level when ur car is on a flat surface? is u park ur car on a tilted surface then ur dipstick level will significantly change.

Yes i check the oil level when the engine is cold and car parked on a leveled surface but like i said the lower level of oil is only noticed after a running of almost 2.5k and it is usually between the half mark and the maximum marker on the dipstick. Is it common for older cars to consume oil?

dear,if oil is not below the MIN mark as you say after 2.5K then you do not need to worry.it is normal.to make sure that oil consumption is not due to bad engine,then let the engine run for about 5k without changing oil and see the oil level.if oil level if below the MIN mark at end of 5K then ur engine has some problem else u are ok.

i change oil after every 3K to 3.5K of interval, i think due to Pakistani roads, severe traffic jam and continuous drive in lower gears we should reduce oil change interval
