Oil Filter

Assalamualaikum,

I have a few questions. On 13th September, I got an oil change for my Suzuki Alto VXL 2023 at Toyota Clifton Motors. They used Toyota 10W-30 oil. The car has been driven 25,000 km. I had also provided them with a new oil filter.

However, when I came home after the oil change, I noticed that the oil filter was still in my car, completely seal-packed and not replaced. I contacted them, and they told me there was no need to change the oil filter as it was in good condition.

Previously, I used to get my car serviced at Suzuki Riaz Motors, and they always replaced the oil filter with every oil change.

Please guide me on what I should do now.

Peek under the car whether the filter installed is new or old. Old filter would be dusty. Even if old is there then it is okay. A filter can last upto 10k.

When they are agreeing that they did not change it then it is confirmed.
Might be you changed oil at 5k drain interval so they left it that you will change it at 10K.

Whatever done is done. Now do one thing, do next oil change little early at 5,000 because your oil will be not too old but filter paper quality will start declining.

For future, check such stuffs and jobs and service before leaving showroom or workshop. As per our local condition, it will be wise decision to change engine oil, oil filter and air filter all together at time of service.

Proper viscosity is 0w20. Also change oil filters along with oil.
