Well... I cannot comment on all car assemblers / manufacturers, but as far as local cars are concerned, I think their user manuals are not updated on regular basis.
I owned FAW V2 previously, and as per company's user manual, the recommended oil grade was 10w-xx (like 30 or 40), but no way, it was 5w-xx.
Just imagine, can I pour 10w-30 or 10w-40 in a brand new 1300cc engine, made in 2017?
It will just kill it.
I think, all the brand new engines for cars, which are made / assembled now a days (and irrespective of generation / Technology or Toyota or Honda), recommended oil grade must be 5w-30 or 5w-40 at max.
