If the car is 8 years old then you have to go with the thicker oil. Thin oils r good for new or little old cars.

I use too pour 10w-40 suzuki oil in my baleno having 300k km on odo healthy engine if engine starts too eat up oil one should find the source first instead of going to thicker oil sometimes its as little as chock/bad/clogged pcv

bro no offense meant but when you told him to get advice from roadside mechanic I got a glimpse that you clearly not have much knowledge on viscosity.
Why would atlas honda put 5w30 in cars during TAPTA Summer of Pakistan?

yes, thinner oil tends to increase engine sound, as engine parts start working at optimal level. you feel the push after moving from thicker oil

I personally own a 18 year old car and its engine is still sealed having mileage on odo 2 lac 26 thousand +. I am using 10w40 in that car without any problems...

10w40 is a all rounder oil for both winters and summer.

And about engine sound don't worry much if sound increases by using thin oil that's not the problem that means your engine is now running freely..... At optimum temperature.

Bro definitely no need to get offended I would love to have good suggestions from u as maybe u know many things which I don't know. I suggested him to get suggestion from his regular mechanic because he and his mechanic know his car very deeply. If u have a car sine long then u should have a mechanic for regular visit and tuning and he knows many thing and they give better suggestions. My mechanic is very experience and worked in Toyota co. So I trust him and his advises.

I usually pour shell helix hx3 20w50 in the month of April and I do change oil in every 3 months I don't go to mileage. This is routine to change the oil in 3 months.

Toyota!!! Hmm....
Toyota always recommends using 20w50 in their cars just don't know why..
Honda recommends using 5w30 in there cars.
Suzuki recommends 10w40 for there cars.

So it is good to stay with what the manufacturer says.

On my behalf just ask your mechanic about API gradings... He will definitely say
"G ye api shaypi ratings kuch nahi hoti hail hail hota ha jonsa b ho.. Aur jitna hail mota ha utna acha."
Typical line of these mechanics..

He worked in Toyota many years and he owns his workshop more than a decade. He has many clients with different car brands. He has no interest in telling me to use this or that. Eventually it is our choice what we want to use. He will secure his service charges if I use 20w50 or 10w40[emoji6]

I usually drain it at maximum of 3000 km or 6 month's...
I hardly drive 500 km in a month that's why......

Some other members are using it till 5000 km
