I have worst experience with MCB Right from day one. took a long long to deliver the card.
and if that wait was not enough the ordeal that i was made to go through by their banks and csr was enought to make one spit on them.
i first went to mcb bank i8 islamabad branch with my card to activate it the guy there who dealt it named qamar abbas first asked me for proof for income which mcb clearly states that it is not required.. after a bit of reading the brouchers with the card i went back to him to tell him that it is not required . but he was admant that it is .. more reading revealed that there are few packages (lite 0 , 1 etc ) and nothign is required for lite 0 and i showed him he then acknowledge it and asked me to just deposit money in it. i deposited 2500 rs in it and asked him if i can use it right now to which his answer was affirmative .. i was still not sure that things could be so simple and asked him agian and he said to just call helpline for its activation .. hlepline told me system is down call after 2 hours .. called later another csr told me that your account is not active .. damnn..
he said first activate from bank then online .. i had visited i8 branch with some pain in knee and i clearly told the guy that do it all that is required at once as i have visited while in pain and i absolutley cannot come again..
couldnt get time to do so .. yesterday went to i-9 branch mcb a lady after few questions promptly activated it and said you can now use it after depositing money and calling helpine for its online activation. i deposited another 5k. ((had visite this branch earlier in ramazan and they said system is down .. so it was second to this bank and third in total . despite have knee injury )
later in the evening called helpline for its activaton after some 8-10 minutes of a lot of questions and reptitions and confirmations the call was droped.. (i was in excellant cell reception area )..
called again and after above ritual of 8 minutes he said it is activated and generate a transaction pin . i generated it .. and tried to check my balance online but it gave invalid pin error..
called agin another csr after above ritual and 8 minutes said its not activated . i told him of previous ordeal then he introduced another terminlogy login pin .saying it is required from checking line balance and is different from transaction id.. anyhow also generated it . and asked him if i am good to go for shoping . he said sure.. and i asked him if there are any hidden charges (earlier csr said no ) .. similarly he also said no ..
after few hours i wanted to buy a microchip worth 43.96 US $ ,, and when i entered alll info in aliexpres it instantly said payment failed.. tired again same error ..
called again and a csr told me its not active for online transaction. he did it .. activated it for ulimited time (which can be dactivated later ,other option was to activate it for limited time .. looking at previous ordeal i choose to activate for ulimited time).. needless to mention to him i told him previous ordeal
i tried again payment and this time got error network error transaction failed..
after few seconds got an sms that i have been charged 4576.29 rs. (this item is 43.96 US $ ) so they charged me more then the dollar rate. current dollar to pkr is at most 101.9 PKR .. while i am charged by mcb at 104.101 / US $ ..this is contrary to their csr/ and bank staff at i9 and i8 branches claims who confirmed that suppose if dollar is for 100 rs i will be charged 100 rs for 1 dolar item and not 101 . while still better then 106.5 charged by UBL. but again its a meagre amount.. only 35rs to 1000 .. or 370 to 10000 rs by ubl but never had any issue with ubl on any front..
i contacted the seller he had some links after within few minutes he said it will be sorted out and pohhhhh a new item appeared in my orders list with correct figures.. lucky i ..
Conclusion :
1: MCB is cheating by sayig no hidden charges only dolar to rupe rate is charged..
2: They need to educate their staff and csr about their offerings .. they are clearly misguiding the clients and wasting their time and resources.
3:they need to speak truth . csr and bank staff should mention how much extra/hidden charges are applied.
4: it is not as simple a process as they claim it to be. it takes couple of weeks at least .and it is not offered from their branches . it has to be aplied online as per their branch near safa gold mall in jinnah super market.
5: my mobile balance also burned after these calls .. dont know how much.. but at least half hour just for activation .. which could have been done in one go. i.e activation , creation of login pin( for balance iquirey) transaction pin for using as debit card and online activation. rather then we having to face the issue and call them back.its very frustrating.
my experience with ubl wiz internet card was very swift .. took couple of hours at most to make card and within a hour i was burning money on aliexpress. and i ordered one item which later canceled the order (as some specs were implied but were not preset ) . i got money returned after 2 weeks in my account.
@ any MCB Lite Users can comment on how they charge extra on transaction ? i hope most hurdels for me are over . now hope it goes good from now onward..
