Thats a decent player. The problem is if you're looking to cut the metal at the back, you have alot of options and you can probably get a very good set of speakers under 5K. The 718s you already have need an AMP if you wan't a decent sound. But there are alot of options in 6x9 and you can make decision by trying speakers at a shop.
Now if liek me you wan't to keep the 6.5s your life has just become complicated. No good 6.5s available in reasonable amount. If you can get the round versino of JBLs from dubai or somewhere, it would be great.
What i am thinking to do right now is to hook up a small woofer or an active basstube and change fronts to components. Woofer can be turned on and off and since you do travel with family, having good fronts is very useful because you get decent sound without disturbing people in the rear.
