Everyone, I sincerely appreciate your sentiments and well wishes. Thank you very much. Hash man and not-so-fast, I have put on little over 500 miles, mostly on clogged Phoenix freeway system. Currently I am getting 24 miles/gallon. I think GM may have either licensed this hybrid technology from Toyota or they have some cross patent agreement, because this Tahoe runs exactly like the Camry Hybrid and the Lexus Hybrids. When you stop, the gasoline engine shuts down completely. When you start moving again, electric motor propels it initially and then V8 wakes up. The transition is quite seamless. Unless you are looking at the gages or the multifunction display, you will not be able to tell when the switch happened. Another thing is, if you stay below 20 miles/hr, V8 never wakes up; you just keep rolling with electric motor. This V8 is quite potent; when you mash the accelerator, all of that horsepower shows up in a hurry. As I mentioned earlier, I would like to see how it handles when pulling our car trailer. I am going to wait till I have at least 1,000 miles on it before I do that though.
