Assalam Alaikum Pakwheelers,

This Sunday 16th August me and my two friends enjoyed a road trip to Hub Dam. I would like to share it with you and discuss the offroading, camping opportunities we can have around Karachi.

Our country is very beautiful be it any part of the four provinces. We have all kind of land including green, desert, mountain, etc.

We used our cell-phone for the photography but even if we had a professional camera we would not have captured it better considering our photographic abilities.

We took Saadi Town link Road from Saifura Chowk towards Super Highway and then Northern By-pass. We took right turn and pass through Madina-al-Hikmat on the Hub Dam Road.

A little info about Hub Dam:

Hub Dam is a large water storage reservoir constructed in 1981 on the Hub River on the arid plains north of Karachi. It is located on the provincial border between Balochistan and Sindh. The reservoir supplies water for irrigation in Lasbela District of Balochistan and drinking water for the city of Karachi

The dam is an important staging and wintering area for an appreciable number of waterbirds and contains a variety of fish species which increase in abundance during periods of high water. The Mahseer (Tor putitora), an indigenous riverine fish found in the Hub River, can grow up to 9 feet (2.7 m) in length and more than 110 lbs.

The Hub reservoir can grow up to 32 square miles (83 kmsup2/sup) and provides for angling.

Hub Dam was designated a Ramsar site on May 1, 2001.
