Packing in Rear Shocks

Hello Pakwheelers,

I own Mitsubishi EK-Wagon and ground clearance is quite low. The car hits on every speed breaker if three person seated on rear seats. Please let me know

1. Can packing be a solution to make my ride a bit high?
2. Is there any problem with the suspension?
3. Will it hit the fuel economy? If yes, almost how much approximately?

Please let me know your swift replies bullet wise.

1- use the packing only on rear. not front, you will need to adjust the headlights beam to acommodate for forward tilting of car.

use properly and accurately machined aluminium / stainless steel (for long life) spacers

you will need 02 spacers ( one for each side) they both should be of EXACT SAME dimensions.

jack up the car from the rear. remove wheels, LOOSEN all the suspension bushes so they can rotate freely.

take off the shock absorber, and fit the spacer. now place a jack under each wheel hub and jack it up slowly until the car is resting on its wheel hubs and the springs are compressed due to weight of car.

NOW tighten back all the bushes. fit the wheels and you are done.

you can also fit the spacers without loosening the bushes, but in a short while you will have worn out bushes.

I want install packing in my front suspension because the car is lifted from back and the stance is not good. What do you suggest? Should i go for it? 1 inch would be enough?

no. you will disturb the alignment of the axels / cv joints. you will face repeated boot tearing.

if you already have spacers, have them machined a little from any lathe wala.

if its 1 inch spacer, have it machined to 3/4"

There are no spacers in rear. That's the problem. I don't want to cut rear springs.

it is likely your front springs have sagged down.

best to replace the springs with NEW ones
