PACPAD :: A PAF (Pakistan Air Force) made copy of iPad

To me Specs looks good for 15500 , i rather get it then a chines made or an ipad ( STYLE STATEMENT )

some moths back i was seeing an interview on bloomberg of the guy formally worked for nokia and now made his own it firm , he said that any company , no matter nokia , apple , samsung ,sony ,do not make more then 5 % parts of there phones , 95% of the parts they get from there different suppliers and almost all of them r in china , they just put it all together and labeled it in there factories !! , so before Giving ur EXPERT Views do a little bit of research ,

That guy forgot to mention that nokia, samsung, sony, apple etc atleast have the technology to develop and research and make a prototype themselves....And then they send it to chinese factories. And in many cases, these factories are operated/owned by apple, samsung, sony etc...

what PAF done here is they simply ordered a particular type of tablet from some company with a PAC PAD sticker on it. I dont think it was even labeled here. Most of these chinese companies offer these services.

And im pretty sure the computer system in the tablet are completely different from the ones used in JF-17 or any other jet. Computer systems of military hardware is not just ordinary computer, these are specially made for the particular application. You cant put ordinary intel atom processor and 2gb ram with intel hd 3000 in a jet aircraft...
Pakistan does not have the technology to manufacture high quality chips so the entire tablet was probably imported as it is....Now some people will say that we DO have that capability. Offcourse we do, we probably can manufacture some sort of a 555 chip maybe....lol

That is the most undemocratic and politically incorrect statement. Nobody has a right to tell others to walk away. After all this is a forum and it is meant for discussion and debate and everyone has a right to give his/her opinion, but nobody has a right to impose his/her opinion on others.

There are people who like the idea and would like to purchase and use the product. Nothing wrong with them and then there are people who think that our defence organisation should not venture into commercial activities and focus on research and development in their own sphere to enhance country's defence capability.

The dissenting voices and conflicting views in fact give rise to better ideas and let people make an informed choice.

If the armed forces have made a commercial product so whats a big deal in it? The thread is about a product and not about who made it and whats their history. People here should be focussing on the product and not the damn drones

The big deal is exactly that the armed forces have NO business dabbling in commercial ventures. This is NOT their job, plain and simple.

What wingster is not trying to understand is that sony, samsung etc are Global companies. Due to the monopoly of these companies ordinary chips like gps receivers and other similar chips are sold to ordinary consumer at ten times the price these companies pay.

So if someone could be charged to sell batteries to iranian government they could charge and block supplies for even a needle that it could be used to clear the blocked nozzles in a solid rocket booster in pakistan missile technology lol

YOu need to develop such capabilities and airforce and armed forces are only remaining organisations to take such steps...otherwise as someone said they will not even sell 555 to pakistan in future as it could be used as bomb timing device....lol

3 types of aircraft , UAV's , AVIONIC hardwear and weapon systems for the Army ,
in civil sector they provide engineering solution , AVIONIC systems , boeing airplanes parts and many types of different products not just for pk but many other countries, and now they entered consumer electronics , coz as PAC sales director said " we r using spare manufacturing capacity "
SO big question way they do it ?
they do it for generating revenue , and all the revenue is invested in making products for army ,
if the profit is going back for making jf17 and uav's then wats the isssue with u guys ?

@ For All Losers : Actually Drive of this commercial venture started because our ailing government and economy is simply unable to support fully functional aircraft manufacturing set up. Situation has gone even worse since Mr. 10% took over ! We are getting 1/4th of the Budget of our actual needs and we don't see the situation improving any time in future. The most critical projects are being delayed because of non availability of Budget.

So some bright minds thought to generate our own revenue instead of asking for pennies from BULSH** politicians to support our own expenses principally which will be utilized in Aircraft Industry Automatically as Air force and its subsidiaries are NON-PROFIT units. This is the first step in this regard and will have more in future , INSHALLAH !

so for all the haters , instead of showing how much negativity your life is filled with , learn to appreciate any good thing with least available resources that this country or any unit of this country is trying to do ! AND understand the fact that when you are criticizing with out facts , you are actually making fool of your self !

For All others The tablet is available for 15,500 PKR on variety of stores and outlets .... PAC Laptop is next in line to be launched !
