Properly done, any engine can be made to fit in any vehicle. Just proper planning and execution is needed.

As an example, borrowing from aircraft technology (the older piston-engined variety), the outlet area from an engine bay should be between 2.5 and 4 times the area of the inlet. Since air heats up, and slows down due to obstruction, you need that big an area to help in heat evacuation.

Well Well Well! I guess the bait just keep pouring in. What a trap you’ve set Sherwan ustad!

Qasim is a respected friend of mine whom obviously I cannot really contradict much for various reasons. But invariably we have different personalities and perspectives and while we cannot help but see the glass half full vs half empty most of the times, luckily in this game, its not difficult to objectively quantify exactly how much the glass holds. So just to clarify the facts for the record with respect to the rally topics:

• For the 4 years now and 5 major rallies of my FJ Concordia program, I am thankful to the lord almighty that we have never (I say again NEVER) have had to conduct any significant repairs on the field. Blowing up the engine (2014) after 4 years of abuse and repairing shock pins in the lead up to rally day (2013) are the two exceptions. Otherwise, Alhamdolillah (no shafts, steering, clutch, axles, hubs, lockers, suspension, engine mechanicals etc), we never had an engine wiring/computer guy with us and we never had any significant spare parts at hand (apart from AFM and ECU and two spare shocks which to date have never been used). Heck we don’t normally even have a spare accelerator cable cause we are so cocky confident and comfortable on our shoestring budget and supernatural skill set. Work on the car until late at night has thankfully always been body work (to take off and put back windshield etc), long delayed maintenace (oil change, radiator flush etc) or finishing off on any last minute changes to the car (try different shocks, improve aero etc). Touch wood God has been very kind and earned us a lot more respect and love than we deserved.

• If I have seen any significant repairs being done in Cholistan, its been on Qasim’s Evo (2012) and Nissan (2014) both of them on the genuine parts of what essentially are/were genuine vehicles. The Evo’s steering column had come apart on qualification and was repaired by my “baaratis”. The Nissan had some issue on leaving Lahore and by rally day, as I understand it essentially the entire front of the engine had been taken apart and put back with god knows what all replaced.

• The 3UZs not completing recent rallies being cited as an argument is a gross misrepresentation of facts. Ronnie has never has issues with his engine or car, had an accident in Jhal and ran out of petrol in Cholistan. Hardly any fault of the conversion or mechanic. Anas Khakwani’s 3UZ Evo lost its belt in Cholistan (2014) but made it to the midpoint. Unfortunately as they searched for a suitable spare belt, no one in our camp dared take the execute decision to offer them our 1UZ belt. Yes, that’s the one part we did have in our limited inventory and it would have put an end to this story. In Jhal (2014) Khakwani’s 3UZ Evo overheated but how is it any different when Zafar Magsi’s genuine Evo smokes out in Cholistan (2015).

• Sarfraz Dhanji (2JZ Nissan) and Channa Sb (JZ Vigo) have been running modified cars for sometime now and despite ups and downs now have some bragging rights to their credit. Asif Imam and Ali Magsi have had good results with mods (2JZ and 3UZ). For every “jugar” failure, we also have horror stories of genuine stuff resulting in huge bills and disasters from Evos catching fire / engines transpiring to smoking TRD mods.

Anyhow, long clarification but those are the facts as I know them. The glass may be half full or half empty, but there is no doubt in the direction its headed!

PS: I had to think long and hard on the repairs to the Concordia and apart from little things I did miss one somewhat major item. In Cholistan (2015) one of the bolts holding the engine to its mount came off during qualification. Things had been banging oddly by the end of qualification run but it took a while figuring out that the engine and drive-train were flexing and knocking down on the mount. Luckily baraati team was radioed in and had us up and running for recce in 20 mins! Well, what can I say full disclosure is a ***** and it IS a man’s business this chit.

Don't put me on the stand for a argument i did not start. I did not setup a trap.
I only asked for opinions which members happily provided.
Within my limited society my moral character rarely comes into question for a reason. It goes against my personal ethics and morals to set up someone in a state of conflict. Basically being an A**hole and you my friend just managed to call me one on a public forum. Whether it was said in pun or on a serious note, it certainly has put me in a state to recede from this forum and community.

The very fabric of this society is very fragile.
In whatever context or said in whichever intent these type of words eventually lead upto something sinister in the coming future.
Believe me, I've had plenty of experience regarding that in the 4x4 community.

The argument pertains to yourself and Qasim bhai, whom I've come to deeply respect and cherish. It is not my intent to escalate a statement rather settle it. In the long run it develops reservations between each other and eventually misguided conceptions and interpretations.

I do not wish to be part of or mentioned in any argument in any context between two people whether being mentioned in pun or directly to a situation. Which does not relate to me directly.
