Good idea, but for just record keeping.
The main display, it was in same condition when I bought it. The front layer not plain anymore.
From top, the arrow points to a mod variable resistor. This enabled to calibrate outside temperature sensor as original one was missing, and a member from PW sent me some Toyota's car sensor which worked okay.
That copper coil thing under heatsink, digital compass module.
Bottom view
It is quite complicated module, circuitry still works perfectly, just the display is worn out due to heat. This panel is mounted in middle of dashboard, and receives direct sunlight when on road. LCDs have limited operating environment temperature range, too much heat they blank out, too much cold, they freeze. Only replacement LCD module can fix it.
Even if its repaired, I'd not go putting it back as it provides limited info, direction, altitude and clock.
My initial plan was for much advanced DIY panel using RaspberryPi with 5" touch display. Display mirroring, multiple sensors, and media handling as well. But after much thinking, decided to keep it simple easy to manage and economical.
