The late models do, but have rarely seen them. What do you mean by its front wheel? all Pajeros are rear wheel. And if you mean that does efficiency change with having a central diff, then yes it does.

Time for an update:
The timing belt adjuster was faulty as well as a small roller. Big roller was already changed. There’s an adjuster available which is currently in a complete engine hence the guy is asking for 10k. I’m searching for a stand alone part which should cost at least half the price. Air intake filter was also changed, engine is serviced and the million dollar question is answered i.e. the engine is actually 6G74, meaning a 3.5l machine.
Meter was changed for a faulty fuel needle, but unfortunately now the new one’s temperature gauge isn’t working properly, it starts with the needle on quarter when the key is on ignition mode, goes up to half when the engine starts, and after a while climbs up to full, whereas the engine isn’t that heat up.
The only major irritant left are the broken air vents. Checked at Peshawar, he quoted 12k, available on eBay in more or less the same price. There’s a guy in Nazimabad who repairs such parts, will ask him if he could repair these. The back light broken piece is repaired and looks perfect.

The old meter can be repaired to fix the fuel gauge, i have been telling you that constantly. this new meter has the same fault as the old one, all these meters have this issue and can be easily resolved through a tutorial on Youtube

Don't know, sometimes you have to rely on whatever is said by the technician, especially when one doesn't have anything concrete to doubt, and also when one has worked with him in the past. A few good electricians call him 'ustaad' in every sense of the word, I guess :). He already warned that soldering might render the whole motherboard dysfunctional, so can't blame him either.
Got 2 used ones, 1 was a mile-o-meter showing speed till 120 (must be taken off from a London model), and the other looked alright, installed that and got the problem mentioned above.
Currently the car is at the silencer workshop, put in the old adjuster for the moment to get the car on-road and get some much needed work done, will go to the denter for a minor dry dent repair on rear fender in the evening. Till that time the adjuster will arrive in sha Allah, fingers crossed, and will be installed. If that goes alright, tomorrow will be the inter cleaning day, followed by the visit to the seat covers shop who will dismantle all the seats except the driving seat. The Nazimabad guy has given some hope about the repair of air vents, he didn't say no altogether so there's a glimmer of hope that a few bucks might be saved here.
1 tyre is not looking good, and there's a shortage of funds to replace all 4 at the moment. Search is on for a similar treads used one to give us a breather of 2-3 months till we're able to replace all 4. That's a crucial decision to make as the next 3-4 months are the toughest on tyres because of the heat wave and Karachi's road conditions.
I hope I'm not boring you guys by constantly whining about one problem or the other. The idea is to get experts' opinion as well as letting others like myself understand how painstakingly tedious, sometimes to the extent of frustratingly slow this process of building a vehicle for your own use is. Not to forget the monetary aspect of it, we had started with a time frame of 15-20 days within a budget of 75-80k in mind and here we are on the 23rd day and 110k later, fearing another 100k more (tyres included) needed to get the vehicle in a shape to our liking.

If it does get ready in 200k, consider that a relief

It’s exacrly like building a house. You start with 8.0 million in your pocket, get a quote of 6.0 million and a time line of 8 months. You discount that by 15% and feel happy that even if it comes to 7.0m in 9 months, all your bases are covered.
And then after 12 months and 9.0million rupees later you are cursing yourself for not buying a built house.
By the way, the tail light that was repaired so beautifully that only a microscope could detect the repaired piece, is broken by some Civic wala while turning his vehicle, by his side mirror!! The good news is that the newly painted bumper has no scratch.

Incorrect example, this is like renovating an old house where one thinks that it would save them money as compared to building one but little do they know, that there is always a reason for cheap things being sold cheap body work isn't an issue, that can easily be perfected, it's the beast under the hood that needs to be of prime concern. I would suggest to keep a junk of cash saved with you, as for the first 6 months of usage, things usually take an ugly turn, after that, the vehicle will be almost like new.

Update:
Finally got to take the vehicle for a ride with just the driving seat intact. I wasn't disappointed but still a few minor issues are there which unfortunately we have to live with. For example there are a couple of noises, one seems to be coming from the left door, which the mechanic says coming from the undercarriage, and we have a good debate on that. Then there's a rattling sound which seems to come from the steering column. Both are not too much of a concern though and a compromise of having a 15 year old vehicle. It's just that lately I'm too comfortable and used to of driving the vehicles whose cabins are very calm.
I found the brakes were a little weak, so ordered new shoes, which were installed and so were the adjuster, and the roller of timing belt. Wheel alignment is done, new meter installed and works perfectly, dry dent of the back fender is done.
Got the door inner handles and bezels from Peshawar delivered yesterday and were not to the liking of the mechanic as the grooves are broken

I've asked him to put these on and see if they hold up nicely, otherwise have to send them back and look for a replacement.
The jeep is currently at the service shop for inter cleaning, then will go for the original coolent for the radiator, engine oil is changed already, and if time allows, will go for the seats to be re-installed along with the new seat covers. Lets see if it is home tomorrow or not.

As long as you are at it, get the all the oils checked and do check if the 4x4 is working, since this has an electric 4x4 and your vehicle is a swap from a 4m40 to a petrol, wiring is changed.

This has been a mystery till now. The dealer who sold this vehicle to us, and according to whom, who knew ALL the previous owners, said some contradicting things. First he said it's a V6 3000cc engine, then he said that the engine was changed by the original owner, got it started in the workshop, didn't like the sound of it, so removed and put in the original engine back in, blah blah blah.
Here's the confusion, the original import documents (the jeep was imported as zero meter brand new), the B/L, B/E, import duty challans, etc. do not mention the engine number. The registration book has engine number prefix as 6g74, AND also mentions 3000cc.
The engine under the hood currently is a 6g74. So we actually do not know if that was a diesel-to-petrol conversion or not, which I doubt by the way.
4x4 check up is on the list, and will be checked surely. Cruise Control ribbon has some problem, it's either cut or not there at all.

Had it been a conversion, it would be mentioned on the book as new engine number. In the import docs, what's the cc mentioned,PS what does it say, who imported it? Because it's a 2003, and these weren't available new in Pakistan back then.

I’ve seen the file and complete import documents and got the file verified from excise. Don’t remember if the import was in some individual or company’s name. The file is in my project manager’s possession and once it will be transferred in my name, which is early next week, I’ll let you know about these details.

I mean when I engage 4WD mode then front wheels does not fully support.
Infact last Saturday I was stuck at a place near Kalam Swat whereas 80 series land cruisers passed it easily. I was shocked and disgruntled.

Check the engine bay for a steel plate, that would have the engine type written on it. Or just google it's chassis number and you will know if it was originally petrol or diesel

80 series doesn't have a central diff. You have a gen 1, correct? Have you checked if all the things related to 4x4 are functioning properly. Hubs, 4H, 4L?

Have 87 model 2477 cc diesel 4D56. Hub lock everything is functional.
5 months ago I climbed Noori top but now I couldn't climb an approx 3 feet steep rock. But local drivers climbed it with their 80 series land cruisers with manual hub locks.
