Thanks for the advice/contact, but thing is I kinda already got my old 4m40 changed, this one isn't exactly a healthy one but am getting my money back once I return the engine to him - so a rebuild really isn't an option right now as that way I won't be getting the money I paid for the engine back. Now I was thinking of opting for an engine with higher hp even with slightly less lower end torque. But now I'm wondering whether any swap is worth it. Hence seriously considering getting the 4m40 replaced. This one is out of a Pajero without a factory fitted intercooler (like in the gen 3). Turbo seemed fine, no apparent leakage from head, fan cluth still functioned, belts and pulleys seemed to be in good order. Everything seemed pretty nice and tidy. Best part it hadn't been serviced the way most others are in an attempt to make consumers believe it's in 'prestine' engine. It's also tiptronic, leading me to believe it came out of a gen 3 4m40. If going this route definitely gonna be getting a post turbo egt installed. Thoughts?

I know someone who swapped the 5vz into the gen 2 from the same guy in Peshawar, was pretty satisfied with it. Didn't ask for details from him.
The thing with the gen3 is that its completely electric, and fidgeting with that is a bitter experience. Hence i would always opt for a 4m40 or 4m41. even for the 41 lots electrical parts need replacing. So go for the 40, it would be less hassle

A month ago I visited peshawar ring road showrooms in hunt of pajero..found 8 out 11 swapped with 5vz...
I asked from my mechanic,what to choose,he replied that although swap is done good but he afraid that electrical issues may persist

My mechanic has also suggested the 5vz swap and said that he will get a plate made from someone he knows, which will marry the Pajero gear box with Toyota engine. I wasn't interested so didn't dig deep with him.

4m40s were never available in gen 3 pajeros in Dubai. And even if they had been, I'm sure they'd have had a pretty tough life. This one's Japanese. Straightforward replacement, not even a swap. Should be done within a day. It'll just lack the power I crave, ah well, better to ride in comfort than a fast box. And the 4m40 does have pretty much the best low end torque available in any engine within this country. So gets you out from a lot of messy situations in a breeze.

I would suggest you swap a Mitsu with another Mitsu, preferably from the same generation.
I am using a Hyundai Terracan swapped with a 5VZ, that's the way I bought it. There were so many electrical issues, cross platform conflicts, ECU miscommunications so on and so forth. Osama has sorted all but one which is not too significant. The performance now is outstanding after re-doing all the engine and ECU related wiring, installing O2 sensor, replacing CAM position and throttle position sensors and much more.

I would still recommend you discuss your situation in detail with Osama.

By the way, I missed where the original 4M40 from your car go? Why can't you rebuild the original one? I am always in the favour of a rebuild vs swap.

Asthetic and if potentially you need more cargo space. Can tie up along roof rails or place in rack if it's a roof rack. Some also things it makes the Jeep look more aggressive. It will however make your Jeep top heavy, giving it a higher center of gravity. So it should ideally be made of lightweight materials. And extra weight won't rally matter if you don't push your paj too much. Additionally, it can increase drag - thereby increasing fuel consumption while lowering top speed, but only marginally so shouldn't be noticable.

Could you please explain what that one issue is? Spoke with Osama, he says workshop under construction and will possibly take a week to be up and running again. Just wondering what that remnant gremlin is.. still haven't completely made up my mind yet. Turns out the 4m40 I found is from the 2nd gen - gearbox isn't tiptronic. Haven't been able to locate any 6g74 3.5 v6's - else will prolly opt for that.

Auto will cost a little more but will be better for daily usage, it takes a little getting used to but would do fine off road. If the purpose of your vehicle is only off road, then opt for a manual, if you aren't into hardcore off roading, auto would do just fine, would be slightly more heavy on the pocket, but more comfortable.

If yours is a dewan spec, try to get your old engine back and rebuild it, thats the best option for pajeros here in Pakistan, as those could deal with the diesel here. Swapping other than a bolt on is a bad idea unless its done till the core, which costs an arm and a leg

The speed sensor from Hyundai is in conflict with Toyota's ECU. It will require fabricating a housing to accommodate Toyota's speed sensor parallel with OEM Huyndai's, and a lot of wiring hassle. I think I can live with one light blinking in the speedometer (Not the check engine). Osama has used one light in the meter to display transmission codes.
