Salam all, Today i was driving pajero 1st gen manual transmission and i pressed the clutch to change the gear but the gear started grinding and i was unable to change the gear even after depressing and then repressing the clutch. so i turned on my hazard lights and used the momentum of the car to park it on the road side. After coming to a stop the gear started working again. Can anyone please guide me that what could be the problem as i felt that it was getting difficult to put the car in 1st gear since morning.Your help would be highly appreciated and of great value.

A 1st gen Pajero i guess has a cable driven clutch not a hydraulic clutch. If it is so check the clutch cable if it is lose, expanded or at a breaking point your gear will do that.
if not the problem the Pressure plate is gone.
Is the clutch pedal soft? Or is it just the same? If it’s same as usual than probably pressure plate is gone else check the clutch slave cylinder which usually goes bad in 1st gen pajeros
most probably its the slave cyl (compounded by never flushing clutch fluid)
Thanks all for the reply . The fluid is at its normal level, so now i ll get the clutch cable and pressure plate checked. If there is diy of that then please guide me.
bhai there is no DIY for this you need to get is checked from a mechanic
on a 4x4 pajero..
kiss your back goodbye if you have never done it before.
Thanks a lot gentlemen. I ll visit mechanic today.
