Thnx for the info. But hey, I know PS is not the actual manufacturer, that's not what I meant when I said so. Also, I have read through Bob's chapters. I know these idiots at PS are thick heads.
BTW, I have already posted the manual for Wagon R above and it said the 0w20 was the oil for Waggy and hence I raised the question to which oil to use as PS was recommending 10W40. But I was in doubt because that manual was for Maruati Suzuki, so may be I thought the difference was there because of the country. But as you have posted the manual from PS, I ought to accept it.
Anyhow, the question still remains:
My waggy as 70000km on ODO, so still I use 0w20? What about ling drives on motorways and hot temperatures in Pakistan?
- Second, there's also a myth that manufacturers are opting for thinner oils because they have to meet their advertised fuel milage. So, where as thinner oils are good for performance / fuel consumption but what about the protection concern?
I would surely like to have a 0W or 5W oil so that at start up there is less wear and tear as maximum wear is during cold starts, but then viscosity at running temperatures is also essential.
As you can see from the chart I posted, Zic 0W20 is the thinnest oil at running temperatures. I think one should go for Zic 5W30 as it will give optimum cold start performance and also good viscosity at running temperature especially in my case as I have 70K kms on the ODO. What do u say?
