India is equivally hot as Pakistan and Maruti is offering 0W-20 oils in service centers. WagonR's manual in Pak, India, and Indonesia, all recommend the same oil.
My waggy as 70000km on ODO, so still I use 0w20? What about ling drives on motorways and hot temperatures in Pakistan
Here's the rule of thumb. If you drive mostly in city or most of the time doing short trips with engine on/off, always go for 0W-20. If you drive a lot on motor way and keep constant speeds around 120km/h, use 0W-30.
I personally use 0W-20 oil and I daily drive 30km from DHA 2 to G-10/4 on Islamabad Highway and come back home. So it's total 60km. I have driven around 36,000km with same engine oil viscosity and never faced any prob. I drive between speed of 60-70km/h. I also use thin gear oil as recommended. Fuel economy I get is 25-26km/liter. That's highway mileage. One more thing. I get that mileage with tyre pressure of 40psi front and 38psi back. I know this is more than recommended but I use hypermiling techniques to get max mileage out of my car.
I would surely like to have a 0W or 5W oil so that at start up there
is less wear and tear as maximum wear is during cold starts, but then
viscosity at running temperatures is also essential.
You took the right decision but again don't go for 5W also. Let's technically look why 0W is better than 5W or 10W.
Kixx 0W-20 viscosity at 40deg is 43.8 compared to ZIC 5W-20 is 52.3. Clearly 0W is better for cold start because it's thin when cold.
Now comparing 100deg viscosity. 0W's viscosity is 8.39 and 5W's is 8.9. This is just 0.51 difference which is absolutely ignore-able. So you can say that 0W is better for cold start and when engine is hot, both oils have almost same viscosity. So always choose 0W oil.
