Indeed. And yes, thats what mess'es it up all Even if a single party pulls away all the plans are ruined and thats the reason we cant do all this review stuff in Pakistan until we get people who are commited towards something.

@zia: yes bro, i'm gonna try and keep it succinct and comprehensive.
Since most are gonna be local cars, we will keep things like economy, comfort, driving pleasure etc in mind too, not just performance.

@others: i myself have been following the thread, but nothing lately. I'll try and make sure nothing of the sorts happens here, though

I opened this thread again to add that line which you posted Driving pleasure, comfort, economy are the things which are important to users here rather than 0-100 timings or G values. Anyways I wish you All the very best of Luck for your effort.

yaar, who wants to see a review of a corolla or a mehran or something else..!!! it will be better if the members who are abroad, arrange some test drives of the good cars, which we know less about..!!!
example the work KAHMAD79 have done is great and his threads are full of informations.!!!

I'd be more interested in reviews of local cars rather than the ones we'll never get here.

Reservations.

1. Authenticity - I expect comments from fanboys saying : 'I've kept 2005 altis 50k driven and my company has 75 Civics, I've raced with all 75 of them and they all lost with 7 cars gap. The altis you drove must be abused'

2. Bias - no matter how senior or junior a member is, i'm yet to see someone who's not a fanboy deep inside. Many a times it is because they own a specific brand, and at times they've not driven any other brand. I know how hard it is to accept that corolla is a better car if you own a civic or a city.

@bango: that is precisely why i am asking for volunteers, so that we have a well rounded bench, not fanboys who are all praise for the car they own.

regarding authenticity, that i will personally assure.

I am a person who has been told that his speciality is "keeray nikaalna" since childhood, and since then, i have become known to all the cell phone and car dealers I interact with that is extremely hard to find a product that pleases me.

I am aiming to bring that objectivity here.

I own a Swift and a Corolla along with a Mehran, and I'd be more than happy to inform the people of all the issues with them to help them make an informed, educated choice, not the stuff dealers or retailers feed them.

To that end, I'll make sure that all of the above is kept in mind while reviewing.

Regarding car comparisons, tht will be for the reader to do.
Every car in Pakistan has a different category and purpose, and they just cant be compared.

I wish to highlight the strong points and weak points of each car I review, and then, the reader can choose which car he himself prefers according to his needs.

That is a really good idea but the matter stands their. Generally most of us here are too intelligent to listen to others I am up for it though. Oh! The newer cars must be better comfort wise as they would be having better seats and rest. How to solve this issue? If we at all gather some members who are up for it, then we can manage to have a better analysis of all the things.

well if ur planning to do "Tests" in ur Review then i doubt if fanboyism wuld be a problem

fanboyism cant deny 0-60km/h Acceleration which is a very heated debate here at PW about which car is faster

u can also load up 4 guyz + driver in the Cars being reviewed and then determine which has the better pick up

fanboyism also cant deny the value/price and fuel economy of any car

another thing fanboyism cant deny is Cost of Parts
i mean cost of Bumpers/Front and Rear Lights/WindShield/Sideview mirrors
to Tuneup/Service Charges by Honda/Suzuki/Toyota waghera

I can take any car to testing limits but then again it depends if anyone has to heart to hand the car over for that.
After having years of maghaz mari with mechanics, I might be able to give an idea upon the technical side as well while regarding performance, tuning and other stuff. I have a slight idea of bilal gunj prices as well as market prices for parts too.
I think this topic will sink into sand as it is very difficult unless the car manufacturers or the ones who afford it easily can hand the cars over for test as the cars in an average condition can't provide good stuff for evaluation.

Agreed, what is the purpose of peeking outside our market and do useless reviews of cars that are not available to us.

Authenticity can never be achieved by searching for neutrals. People will always cry 'Bias' if their favorite brand is not favored in a review. Why not just test a car against some primitive benchmarks like Engine (Torque,bhp), suspension (Soft,Hard), transmission (stiff,fluid), chassis (roll,strength), safety (hard to put anything in the name of safety that is available in all local cars, maybe seatbelts ), price, practicality (boot space, folding seats bla bla) etc and who knows what. Not everything i listed may make sense but we can refine it by discussion.

Don't all car reviews hold some bias for a certain brand or type. British against French, Americans for big. Still fans like the shows or articles. You can check how a car stands against the benchmarks and then we can rate the car say out of 5 stars half a star to each of 10 characteristics like safety, economy, price, practicality, looks, power and others. People can make their opinion about buying it or not. Only intellectuals will give value to a thought out and well drafted review.
