Nice 2 see this thread. I'm appearing in CSS 2009 exams as well but haven't started studying yet ... i'm already late.

Anyone of you started studying ? Please guide.

Mention your optionals as well.

I'm gonna have a try on PHY(I,II)+ History of Indo Pak (I,II) + Muslim Law ... + IR.

a very intestersting topic. i'd appreciate if members elaborate on things such as minimum and maximum age, subject requirements, degree requirements, reason for doing and future aspirations. m sure many out there would just love to hear from you.

You have to have a bachelors degree and max age is 31 years. You have to give something like 14 papers pakistan studies islamiat current affairs and loads of options.

I will Choose The Subjects (Computer Science as 1st ) then LAW, International Law etc etc they will also help me in LLB.

Well, being in the Gov.service for last 23 years and working experience with all types of officers, i would say the CSS is no more the No. 1 choice of brelient minds of pakistan. With the changes in our society since last 10 years and new system of Gov., there is no more charm left here especially if u believe in "rizq e halal"
But it is still better then many other jobs if u have no other options left. Good Luck to all of u.

there ARE quite some people who want the honor of being in the government sector. agreed, it is difficult to live on the meagre salary and that too on halal terms but there are just a selected handful few. waisay you are really right, such minds can mint more money in the private sector, particularly abroad.

well, I'll give you all a very good suggestion. Instead of working so hard for the CSS exams and wasting your time and energy, just apply to Army, wait, am no kidding, just apply to army, serve there for 3-4 years, take a nominal test and enter the civil services! see its that easy! impossible is nothing when you are in the PAK Army (y) you can even become Governor or President of the whole damn country let alone a DC or Commissioner. So think over it guys.

I dont agree with tiptop at all. The prestige, honour and power associated with a government job(especially the right groups) is unbelievable. I know a chairman of a bank who literally 'leaked' when he was arrested by FIA.
As far as 'Rizq-e-Halal' is concerned you can always chose not to take bribes. Dont believe anyone who says you cant survive without corruption. Infact ask ANYONE in the civil services whether a honest person is more appreciated or not

i think u haven't seen that practically,for bureaucracy u means to say Rizk-e-Halal, that's not possible at all now.You wont say its Rizk-e-Hilal in such situation where u percentage is fixed while sigining even for domicile ? i think u never been to revenue side when u try to transfer any land ,there is percentage fixed by our so called DDOR,DOR and DCO which depends on the size of land.I really don't like these posts now,we people struggle day and night for CSS where most of the system is corrupt and please i dont wana ruin this thread.I have two of my uncles as DOR and SSP and personally spoken to them and they said its really hard to survive in this Govt sector without bribe in which money circulates from ground level to top level.One more thing Government pay of DOR is 32k Rs but as senior member said if u have no option left,you have to earn ur lively hood then surely one should go for it, rest ALLAH knows the better and guide us to right path. and i totally agree that these positions do have prestige and honor.

P.S : i dont wana argue with any member beside any one preparing for CSS ,wish u best of luck.

My Friends,
When u jump in dirty water, u cant stay clean even if u want to. When percentages are fixed and u refuse to take, they will declare u unfit for the job and u will remain an OSD for most the time. Anyway, choice is yours.

CSS indeed a gr8 option. my father was on 10th position in all over Balochistan..people thnk its quite hard but my father gave exams without preparing any thing, because he was doing a job back at 1970s.
As far as corruption is concerned still there r many honest people in our civil service,and u can also be among them.

its not lyk that if ur an Honesr person and u dont take ur percen no one will make u OSD. And this problem occur at secretary level below that there is no pressure for u to take bribe etc..

the bribe issue is very true for most cases. agreed our fathers and forefathers may have been lucky to get out safely but on a broader spectrum, understand that not taking bribe means you do not fulfill your senior's unjust orders which is common in almost every department nowadays and that obviously results in no promotion which means same salary constant for years. apart from the money factor there comes unpleasantness amongst seniors and other peers of the same kind. of course there ARE exceptions but very few.
