I am looking to buy an entry-level DSLR .
I have to choose between a Nikon D3100 , a canon EOS 550D and a Nikon D5000.
D5000 is the cheapest , Canon has a built-in AF motor (means I can use older,cheaper non AF-S lenses) and the D3100 is the most advanced ( EXPEED 2 image processing , 14.2 MP DX Format CMOS Sensor , 1080p video , Guide mode etc .)
Now kindly advise me which one is the best bang for the buck and are canon's lenses more easily available and cheaper than Nikon's ?
Please keep in view that this will be my first ever DSLR and so user-friendliness is also important .

bought 550d few months back..n loving it....good for video and pics.....

lens r not much expensive...plus no video recording limit..yet can not record for to long as lens temperature goes high....

Thank you for that video. That japenese dude is funny !
As for the cameras;I guess they are both very similarly configured and very similar in terms of photo quality.The guy,however,didn't give a final verdict and so I am more confused ! Anyways,I'll have to use a 550D to form an opinion (I've checked out the D3100 already) it seems !

Thank you for your help . As far video is concerned,I think,you should buy a proper , professional video camera if you are serious. Otherwise my primary concern in a DSLR is photos only .
You can use decades old lenses with the five-fifty D and still auto-focus because of the built-in auto-focusing motor .Thats a good thing !

Again,I think of a camera as your tool for the job. Without good technical skills and creativity, no matter what camera system you use, you will never be able to capture anything good. Read, learn, learn and learn, then experiment and shoot a lot – that’s the only way to become a better photographer.

@sohaib : i have d5000 and i like it a lot , have also used the 550 , but i prefer d5000 .
