what else can be done to get clear pic?

from Canon SX210 IS, my first try to take pic

salam all
i have a d3100 recently bought it from abudhabi
would some body tell me how the autofocus willl work ?? it has a stock 18-55mm lens n an extra 70-300mm lens
following the tutorial i cant get my manual focus changed to afs for view finder.it is changing to other varieties of focus like normal wide etc for live view but not for viewfinder.it says it cant change with current settings. i have tried alot. plz help thank u

Very nice. The lasers have been captured without much blurring, so pretty quick shutter speed I would guess, and with a nice exposure overall.

Bango: Great shot, looks like you used a small aperture judging from the well defined star patterns on the building. Is that so?

I would have shared pictures from the NYC trip and the current ones in Pakistan but since it is not the theme right now, it would break the order.
