Passo 2012(1krfe) reducing oil

Salam dear All!
My car i.e, Passo 2012, has got a serious problem, I guess...
It has started to consume oil.
Previously, I was using Profi-Car 10w40, but since it consumed around 1.5 litre in 2600 kilometres, the mechanic advised me to use 20w50 grade, which I am using since 2 months.
Observations, so far:
-Car has reduced 800 ml of this new oil, in 3000 kms,
-Fuel average and performance is unaffected (gives around 14-16 km/l within city),
-Strange kinds of noises, like rod knock, chirr chirrrr like sound, e.t.c, especially when accelerating with AC on.

Mechanic says to replace assembly with either 1kr or 2sz, as according to him overhauling it wont solve this perfectly, and that problem may arise after 1 year.

Respected members and experts are requested to advise me on this issue...

P.S: The car is kept with great care since it's a self-import.

without compression test ( dry & wet reading differene shall be over 20-30 psi ) it is not advised to work upon engine.

Visit some workshop with ability to perform compression test - dry ^ wet - obtain results & share.

engine oil consumption is manily due to: BAD VALVE SEALS. ( LEAKING DABOO ) & worn out rings.
as i can read from your post the oil consumption dropped after switching oil grade, it is most likely bad rings how ever compression test is 1st step for diagnosis of such problems.

Yes brother... These were the things which the mechanics, told me, after thorough check-up, & drive.
Got it checked from Toyota, as well, but they are insisting to change assembly....
BTW, city is Peshawar.

kick that loser under the belt, rebuilding an engine with quality oem parts and precise machining can comfortably last 200,000+ kms with regular maintenance.

So we should scrap our vehicles then if the manufacturer specs are not meet...
cmon we are not living on Mars every thing can be done

every thing can be done but with those machinery held with manufacturer. Those expertise are required those qualified and skilled engineers have to superwise. otherwise in the market, no body can do. My experience says that Passo Engine disposible. it needs to be replaced. I have overhauled that of mine but no improvement.

use 0W-20 or 0W-30 engine oil and be at peace. if all options run out use 5w-30 available from Shell & Total
unless the ustaad rebuilding the engine was half asleep to finish the job.

Im using shell 5w30 wth non-genuine filter from last 1 yr in 1sz-fe, change it on 3500kms though max it can run upto 5k. So use it frm almost 0 degree to 46 degrees temp of Peshawar mostly in city traffic and alkhmdulilah no issues whatsoever. Which denounce the myth tht higher temp requires high grade oils.

I think if we go by manufacturer recommendations these engines last for too long with out any problems, my experience.

Thats what scotty says about synthetic nd non synthetic oil usage.
