Passo Steering Noise

Hello
I just replaced steering shaft of my Passo 2014 But still its U joint is make knocking sound on low sounds when steering is turned. What could be the problem now ?

Hmmm u-joints? Are you talking about cv joints? The tak tak tak noise when turning?

Was the iss greased?

Intermediate steering shaft, it has splines. Those splines make knocking noise when they are dry. Just like rwd car driveshaft slipyoke noise.

You should use a plastic safe odourless synthetic grease on that, as the splines are plastic coated and greased from factory.

Btw splines are called “milling” in Pakistan or sometimes just called “daantay” in street lingo.

I think it's also called 'kanghi' in mechanics' language.

yep - this is the right picture, and in some toyotas the spline drive is a square drive - these splines are used to accomodate the adjustment of the steering shaft length wise (if provided). even in cars without such the splines dry out and click.

i got passo front suspension done but luckily steering was fine (thats because i did not delay suspension work)
workshops folks wr saying kabli replacement of steering is expensive if required
how much did it cost you?
