Passo Steering Rattle on bumpy roads

Hi guys. I know this question has been asked before and that this is a common problem with the car but I have yet to see a satisfactory answer. The problem that I face is a rattle sound that comes from below the steering wheel whenever I drive on uneven roads with potholes. It sounds like metal on metal. Has anyone been able to pinpoint the issue? Thanks

either the U joint on the steer shaft is bad or the splines on it are dry, use a teflon grease on it

Possinly worn out steering bushes !

Common issue in passo 2014/2015. Its rattling due to brake pads. Check if it still rattles with half pressed brake paddle.

Dear users,
I faced the very disturbing clunky steering problem when i bought passo. replaced the whole steering rack with tie rod ball end and lower control arm. it was as bad as it was the day first.it used to clunk and usually observed while car travels on gravels on road and some mild pot holes.
I will thank youtube..after good research..the u joint intermediate shaft that emerges from epc(electronic power steering unit) to steering rack was the culprit.

Just loosen the bolt on the both ends(epc end and steering rack end) and tie them more firm than before. this solved my problem. hope yours also improves.

A.O.A My passo 2013 makes rattling noise when driven on bumpy road. There's no vibration in the steering wheel nor any sort of sound from it, just when the car is driven on a bumpy patch, the front suspension starts making strange noise, in high speeds the car is very stable. When there is a small patch of 1 or 2 yards on a highway, even then it feels greater than it would normally. What can be the issue if I want to check out at home?
I usually drive really slow on such roads but my brother and father don't bother slowing down the car..
I'm actually skeptical about the mechanics as they mess up the whole thing before coming towards the main point..., like messing with the sensors etc.
Help would be highly appreciated.

I confronted the upsetting inconvenient controlling issue when I purchased passo. supplanted the entire guiding rack with tie pole ball end and lower control arm. it was as awful as it was the day first.it used to thump and typically watched while vehicle goes on rock on street and some gentle pot gaps.

I also have kept 28/30 tyre pressure. But everything seems okay on the places that are easy to inspect. No leak, no tie rod play, no nothing.
I guess the steering rack bushes are the culprit.
