Passport help

People that have travelled to Europe can help me out. My name is Syed Ahmed Faran. On my passport my given name is Ahmed Faran and surname is Syed. The visa application requires my full name.

So should I put my full name as:
Syed Ahmed Faran
OR
Ahmed Faran Syed

The name should match exactly as that on passport. In Pakistan, we put surname first and then rest of the name. However Westerners put surname at end. I am confused. What should I write in fullname box to make sure it matches that on my passport.

my passport is kind of effed up

i dont have any surname on my passport just have my given name

surname= blank

so i just give my given name and it is just fine

in my next passport i will get it according to the normal presentation and will josh the passport office for their uneducated mistake.

Simply write syed ahmed faran .... Don't write ahmed faran syed otherwise syed would be considered ur last name and will mismatch ur last name in passport .... As concerned I don't think visa application need such thing its visa app only

No we don't. We also put our surname at the end. However, because of various regional, cultural and religious influences across the Indian sub-continent we have different naming nomenclatures.

I would firstly have your passport correct so that it reflects "Faran" as your surname. If that is not possible go with your full name as it is, its not something that the Immigration officers will deny you entry over.

We put our Surname at the end, also known as "Last Name" or "Family Name". Usually when you fill in a from, the blank spaces are properly marked so that you know where do you have to put you surname. Normally they ask "First Name", "Surname" and/or "Given Names" if any.

It doesn't make much difference I suppose. My name was written as "Istafa, Muhammad Saad" everywhere in HK. Whereas I used to write "Muhammad Saad Istafa". It's just a format. Even in Cell Phones you have option of "Surname First". It doesn't matter!

Our naming system does not conform to the western naming structure. Most of our last names are not family names.

We sometimes add first name of the father to child's name and some times the last name. The same practice is followed if changing woman's name after marriage.

In your case, your name should appear as Ahmed Faran Syed. This will be in line with the way it appears on your passport.

My first name is rida i dont have last name but on passport they have wrote rida on surname place and given name is blank .....is it fine .... when i asked to the passport office they told me that the person who dont have last name their name is written in the box of surname plz help is it fine or not?
