This is why its called a Pass, you leave the plains, enter the small mountain range and decent into the tree-less plains towards Eucla.. in some places you can see the wide open ocean from the road too...

after a short fueling stop, exiting Madura...

during my research of places to stay before starting, I saw bad reviews about the facilities at Madura, and now I can vouch for that, they don't have even a boiler or oven to get hot water, forget about anything else...

Then we hit the plains again, with mountains/mounds on one side and ocean on the other...

as i mentioned earlier, there were dozens of cars to be seen like these and as we were talking about the agony one has to go after breakdown, the "imaginable" happened to us too...

yup.. thats what happened... earlier in the day it went flat, got it repaired but probably had another leak and went flat... I had no choice but to drive till the next parking spot as I didn't wanted to risk us for a passing Road Train.... and when you drive on flat tire for a few kms, this is what happens.... specially when it loaded to the brim...

I had trouble again, jacking it up all loaded was a trouble, but so was removing all the stuff from the car boot and getting that spare tire installed too... I might say I was lucky to have ordered the Ford/Camry PCD, otherwise with no spare, I'd have been stranded for quite some time...

After the tire change, I hit the next pitstop at Mundrabilla WA. Inquired about any tire services and was told the nearest could be somewhere in the middle of Nullarbor. That means I had no chance of getting a new tire even in Eucla WA.

Again hit the road praying that there will be no more tire trouble... reason for worry was the original was 195/65R15, while I installed 215/60R16. Although it looked normal but dragging it all along might have effect on it since there was a slight difference in circumference..

wide open spaces... far far away you can a glimpse of Eucla WA, which is also a Pass... decent from Madura Pass and ascent into Eucla Pass...
