Petrol smell from the interior of 2006 model Mehran

Dear PW members,

I have a problem in my 2006 model Mehran. Whenever I drive my car, a petrol smell is always felt in the interior of the car. During driving, everyone in the car feel petrol smell. Mechanic had checked the car diggi and petrol pipes linked with car diggi for any leakage in pipes but pipes were fit. Also, no petrol leakage or drops on the road/ floor, either in driving or rest position.

Kindly, tell me, where the exact problem (petrol smell) is located and its solution ?

the pipes which carry petrol from tank to engine could be leaking in engine bay, or the pipe which carry excessive petrol back one

also its normal to not see any drops etc of petrol as it evaporates easily, what you can do is open bonnet, have some one stand and inspect bay while car is start and race is given

Check the pipes from the petrol tank to the engine bay. Also get your fuel mixture checked.

Me too feel petrol smell especially when driving on petrol and sometimes even on driving on cng . As on moving with petrol its normal for an old carbi car. As for my car its due to loose butterfly ( waha se smell aarhi hoti ha )
But its annoying when sometimes car is driving on CNG and smell is felt
I think some of my petrol carrying pipes is also leaking. Mechanics dont bother for these minor faults but these are really very annoying.
As i use cng so i am ignoring the issue..
But infact its not to be ignore..
My fuel needle also deflects slowing even moving on cng.. (ya shaid mera weham ha

Weham nahin hai. Get it checked. Your fuel is evaporating. Get following checked.

Smoking a cigarette in your car can be adventurous Just kidding.

Check under the hood. 110% it’s leaking somewhere around the engine bay.

I bought a Mehran VXR new in 2003 & it had the same fuel smell inside. Had it checked by Suzuki 3S under warranty and they could find no leakage. Drove it for three more years and sold it. It's a normal Suzuki feature which you get without any extra cost! Enjoy!

engine me to leakage definately ha kahin na kahin
but there is also some leaking under the fuel lid. jaha se petrol dalta ha.
coz aik din i was changing my rear tire of that side and i felt heavy petrol smell coming behind the tire
i was shocked. but today there is no smell from their.
actually i did inspected the engine from a mechanic he said ur butterfly is to be repaired. total work would be done in 2500 rs . bla bla
i was like wth. and ignored the issue

First of all identify that the smell coming is from inside or from outside. Do this:

Roll on windows, close external air vents and drive the car if no smell is coming then it meas the fuel is leaking from engine bay and get it examined. it could be from carburetor or from fuel filter.

If the smell is still coming when everything closed then do the following:

Replace all the fuel hoses (complete set including the rubber ones and the metal ones) i mean change the loop from the filler area to the tank.

Also take out the tank and inspect the area where fuel gauge is fixed. this also leaks petrol due to worn out old seal. get it sealed properly.

Keep a small fire extinguisher in the car and avoid smoking in it till you find a solution. That's the best I can suggest for the moment.

I have closed all windows and felt no smell from interior. I will brought car inspection accordingly.
