Peugeot 2008 Facelift - Timing Belt

Hi everyone! I’m considering the newly launched Peugeot 2008 (facelift) and I’ve heard concerns about the wet timing belt on earlier models, that it can wear quickly and potentially cause serious engine damage. I’ve also read that the updated 2008 may now use a timing chain instead, which should be more reliable. Could anyone confirm whether the facelift model sold here has a timing chain?

Additionally:
Has anyone in Pakistan experienced timing belt/chain issues with the 2008?
If a timing belt issue occurs, is it covered under the official warranty?

The facelifted model in Pakistan still uses an oil belt. The hybrid variants of this engine and the next gen use chain. Oil belt should be changed every 100k kms and oil changes every 4 months or 7500kms.

Wishful thinking that the belt survives 100k. One wrong oil change or one overheat sequence and the belt starts to delaminate, then its a death sentence for the engine.

I plan to maintain my car through the Peugeot or Kia dealership to ensure the warranty remains valid and that the correct oil is always used in the engine. This should help me reach 100k miles without issues (I guess), after which I can focus on replacing the timing belt. At the end of the day, it really comes down to proper maintenance, which is essential for any car. Also, I asked 10-15 people by now who owns peugeot 2008 in Pakistan and everyone seems to be very happy and none of them had any complaints and that's a big relief for me

But company says it should change after 10,000kms or 6 months whichever comes first.
